WWE Superstar turned actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has cemented his status as one of the biggest box office draws in Hollywood as G.I. Joe: Retaliation took the North American box office by storm this weekend. Just as he helped to reinvigorate the Fast and Furious franchise at Universal (a sixth instalment is months away, while the seventh is rumoured to begin shooting this summer), Paramount are happy enough with the performance of the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra sequel to move ahead with a third instalment. I haven't had chance to check out the movie just yet, but director John M. Chu and the cast all seemed very enthusiastic about moving ahead with a follow-up when I saw them at the London press conference earlier this month. What do you guys think?

In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. The film stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum with Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson. Directed Jon M. Chu, and produced by Lorenzo di Bonventura and Brian Goldner, from screenplay by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick based on Hasbro’s G.I Joe characters.

STARRING:

Channing Tatum as Duke
Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock
Bruce Willis as General Joseph Colton
Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye
Ray Park as Snake Eyes
Lee Byung-hun as Storm Shadow
Ray Stevenson as Firefly
RZA as Blind Master
Arnold Vosloo as Zartan
D.J. Cotrona as Flint
Elodie Yung as Jinx
Stephen Martines as Cross-Country
Eddie Hargitay as Tunnel Rat
Joseph Mazzello as Mouse

RELEASE DATE: Out Now!

The rock has really come a long way in Hollywood, he's now a star and box office draw. I never would have seen this after the scorpion king back in 2002. He's done well, it's looking like he made the right decision to leave the WWF. His acting has also improved from when he first started. If there's ever a heroes for hire movie, the rock should be luke cage

I dug the new flick up until they had the final battle under a frickin interstate highway next to Fort Sumter. Really? How exotic.

Lets go a little bigger next time.

Oh, well. I liked G. I. Joe: Retaliation for what it is, but I'm looking forward to see a forced plot to be incorporated to make the next one happen. Here's to hoping it will just end as a trilogy!

To be honest the only thing I didn't like about Retaliation is how forced and contrived the reveal of Strom Shadow's innocence was.

I found the way they got rid of the entire world's nuclear weapons to be quite clever and funny.

Still havent seen Retaliation. Hoping to do that soon. From what I can see, I can imagine a third film being much better. That way Chu can do what he wants without feeling pressured to acknowledge what went down in Rise of Cobra. Recast and redo some of the characters in bring in some fresh blood for the Joes. And please bring back Nichols as Scarlett, for obvious reasons.

Also I really hope the Joe/Transformer crossover happens down the line. That would be really cool to see.

Was there something wrong about his delivery? I wouldn't know because the version I watched was dubbed in my mother language.

Have Ripcord join Roadblock get revenge on Cobra Commander from killing Duke. Or have Duke mysteriously alive as a prisoner.
