Ripcord Now Has His Own Character Poster

Everything you have heard about how bad this movie is false. Or is it? With all the hogwash coming out about G.I. Joe in the last few weeks I thought our Comic Book Movie Fans would like to see something concrete regarding the new G.I. Joe film.

Come on guys lets face it. G.I. Joe has the potential to blow. That kinda rhymed. With the firing of director Stephen Sommers rumor coming out and being debunked the same day who really knows what's going on with this flick. We all know the movie studio's will say and or do anything to cover there back ends and that's why we don't trust them when they say the movie tested bad and then 5 minutes later they say no it did not.

This movie is like any other in the respect that we will all go see it and form our own opinions. I watched the cartoon when I was a kid but was never a fanatic G.I. Joe (have to know everything about each character) fan. That being said I will be able to go see the movie with a open mind and have no pre determined demands for what the producers need to put in the movie to make it authentic. So here is throwing this one up to chance and hoping for a solid enjoyable movie in August.

Check it out and sound off below.

I disagree, he's a great actor just starting to make his way into more serious territory, giving him a chance at least.

GUNSMITH- I didn't say shit about the movie, i just wanna know who would honestly put up Marlon on they're wall... in that suit. True, the tv outfits would have sucked but standard military attire would have been appropriate. BTW, the movie looks like shit. I didn't say it was going to be shit, i'm saying right now, it looks like total and utter shit.

leik777- No wayan can act. Keanan came close... but Segal overshadowed him... if that's even possible.

Any movie with Marlon Wayans in it is destined to fail, horribly. What sane person (who's not related to him) would even cast him in a movie?!?
charlymurfy
charlymurfy - 6/17/2009, 12:07 PM
Marlon Wayans is DECENT. Did ya know he was cast as Robin in Batman Returns but his scene was cut? He received a film credit as "the kid" and also received a paycheck. Before Burton left the series he originally planned to have him as Robin and Robin Williams as the Riddler. Better him than CHEESEBURGER EDDIE!!! Should have picked CHARLIE MURPHY!!!
saymekian
saymekian - 6/17/2009, 12:08 PM
Marlon Wayans is actually a great actor. Why don't you go watch one of his movies that isn't made by a member of his family. And even then he is funny at least.
Stumblin
Stumblin - 6/17/2009, 12:16 PM
saymekian, he was in Dungeon & Dragons (sucked) White Chicks (sucked) Little Man (sucked) Dance Flick (sucked) So what makes this any different? It's an action movie, so was D&D, granted it didn't suck just because of him, but he didn't help.

He's good at sketch comedy mostly, not this kind of thing. I have no faith in what I've seen so far, everything just points to complete utter crap.

But I'll still see this monstrosity anyway...sigh...
Shaman
Shaman - 6/17/2009, 12:18 PM
charlymurfy- Having him as robin really isn't a good argument on his talent or lack there of.

saymekian- Even if you named me all 2 of his peformances in films he was in, that weren't from his family, he still sucked. And i say that without having watched them too. I guess he'll just have to prove us all wrong in GI Joe.

I will reserve judgment until the movie comes out...as for Marlon Wayans, all I will say is that once upon a time I thought that Jamie Foxx as a serious actor was a joke...the joke was on me.
Shaman
Shaman - 6/17/2009, 1:27 PM
Difference between Foxx and Wayans is that Foxx ruled from Any Given Sunday till today where as Wayans has sucked underaged balls since forever!
charlymurfy
charlymurfy - 6/17/2009, 1:36 PM
The only point I was makin is that Burton saw a semblance of talent in the man. Many actors were in crappy movies before they made it big. Charlize Theron was in one of the Children of the Corn flicks as an uncredited victim and look at mama now. Brad Pitt got his start in some dumb hack n slash flick. Willie Beamon was just an extension of himself. Any Given Sunday was overrated. The Program is tied with Remember The Titans as the ultimate football movie.

@Smolo

"I am sure he will be this movies Jar Jar" From what I've seen this movie will be cinemas Jar Jar.

I agree with Shaman on the suits, they look bad. Don't use cheap plastic and rubber and try to pass it off as bulletproof body armour!

@Stumblin

LOL - D&D! It was like a couple of school boys handled the finance for that movie! They spent all funding getting Jeremy Irons and then looked at whats left & thought
1 - "sh*t, we need to make a movie out of this!
2 - "Who can we get for the hero now?"
1 - "I know! That twat from New Adventures of Superman"
2 - "What, Dean Cain?"
1 - "No, we don't have enough for him! I mean that little sh*t who played Jimmy."
2 - "F*ck, are you sure we can't even get Dean Cain?"

Although I do have a soft (or should I say hard) spot for Thora Birch! Just a thing I have :)
Shaman
Shaman - 6/17/2009, 2:04 PM
Burton saw talent in Andrew Bryniarski as the mayor's son... and you're saying he wasn't on crack??? The man should stick to directing, not casting. It's a miracle that Helena Bonham Carter wasn't Catwoman. And as for Foxx, it might have been an extention of himself but at least he was able to portray it on screen in a believeble manner. Wayans can't even do that!

Howlett- I agree!!! Thora Birch is smokin'!!! And guess what that twat from The New Adventures Of Lois and Clark is up to... a freakin superhero movie. Of course it's a spoof because he can't get any other work... i'm just baffled it's not going straight to BETA!!!
ThunderCougarFalconBird
ThunderCougarFalconBird - 6/17/2009, 2:18 PM
Shaman - I thought if anyone else knew what I was on about with Thora it'll be you. She has one of those faces I know you love to draw and then there's the rack!

Wayans aint funny and he makes awful shite movies, but hes BRILLIANT in Requiem For A Dream, so maybe hes a better dramatic actor than a comedian..we WONT see in Gi Joe because people dont act in a Stephen Sommers movie, they simply speak.
charlymurfy
charlymurfy - 6/17/2009, 3:13 PM
I was just about to ref REQUIEM. Darren A saw some good in him too. I am not saying hes the next Will Smith (who started off in comedy on TV as well), just saying he could be a victim of typecasting. He may not be great but he's hella better than Shaun. Any one remember Billy Bob Thornton in Tombstone or Blood in Blood Out? And I semi-agree with you about Burton's casting choices. Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent? Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka? HBC as every female lead in all his movies? Quite Questionable. Should went with CHARLIE MURPHY!!!

Howlett04- That rack is... pure magic!!! And the miracle is having that gorgeous face on top of that outstanding rack. She's definitely in the same perfection dimension as Michelle Trachtenberg :))

Teabag- It does make me wonder how could they even function having the rest of their body being accelerated eccept their head... which... let's be honest... should be the uh... uh... motor organ... should... shouldn't it???

Was about to say also that he was great and played the part to the T in Requiem For A Dream.

So many actors and actress have been type cast in movies then they make a break out movie and are movie gods...

Short list:
John Travolta
before Pulp Fiction after Greese & saturday night fever = The worst
Now one of the best out (good or bad)

Will Smith: already mentioned above

Tom Hanks at first corny comedys

Robin Williams

and the list goes on...

The more you tell yourself its going to suck, the more it will take for you to be convinced it do not suck.

I will give it a chance.
I mean ripcord is such a secondary character I was surprised he is in the movie. He never got cartoon or comic book face time. I asume they needed two Army guys.
