Here is the official synopsis..

Britt Reid is the son of LA’s most prominent and respected media magnate and perfectly happy to maintain a directionless existence on the party scene — until his father mysteriously dies, leaving Britt his vast media empire. Striking an unlikely friendship with one of his father’s more industrious and inventive employees, Kato, they see their chance to do something meaningful for the first time in their lives: fight crime. But in order to do this, they decide to become criminals themselves — protecting the law by breaking it, Britt becomes the vigilante The Green Hornet as he and Kato hit the streets.
Using all his ingenuity and skill, Kato builds the ultimate in advanced retro weaponry, The Black Beauty, an indestructible car equal parts firepower and horsepower. Rolling in a mobile fortress on wheels and striking the bad guys with Kato’s clever gadgets, The Green Hornet and Kato quickly start making a name for themselves, and with the help of Britt’s new secretary, Lenore Case, they begin hunting down the man who controls LA’s gritty underworld: Benjamin Chudnofsky. But Chudnofsky has plans of his own: to swat down The Green Hornet once and for all.

Collider has gotten their hands on a few new images as well.

The Green Hornet hits theaters January 14, 2011
Starring: Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz, Jay Chou, Christoph Waltz and Michael Pena.

Directed by: Michel Gondry

The trailer looks much cooler than I expected but who is the hero and who is the sidekick in this movie?

AWESOME!

That trailer just BLEW MY MIND!

I really expected it to be bad... but man, that was action packed... maybe action packed isn't such a good thing... who knows.

I grew up watching tapes of the Van Williams/Bruce Lee GH show - and for what this movie is, I don't think it looks so bad. As soon as casting news came out we knew what we were getting.

I think whoever leaked the "the studio might not release the film because at this point it's unwatchable" lead was just bitter about Seth Rogen. But in their defense, it is the most bizarre case of casting since John Wayne played played Genghis Khan.

The only way it would be weirder as if Joe Rogan was to play the Green Hornet. Or Genghis Khan.

Wow, Jay Chou's channelling Bruce Lee in some of those clips.

@Dogsofwar. Kato drives the car, which he created(he works for Britt as a chauffer) but Green Hornet is the main guy. Then again, I think a lot of the comedy from this film will come from Kato actually being far more apt than GH.

@slimybug-That is my point. Further proof a sarcasm font is needed.

What does Kato need Green Hornet for in this movie besides a bankroll?

If Kato has all those skills he would be rich himself. It's like Kato is just bored and decides to help.

OMG!!!! Seth Rogan was the wrong choice for this film!! This is going to be ( as Grif likes to say a lot) S#!t dipped in S#!T. Wow. Seth Rogan is a bumbling Oaf, he is and will never be a believable superhero. Stick with your mindless comedies Seth. Sheesh.

I've never read the comics, so nothing (aside from maybe Christoph Waltz) about this movie interests me. I'm gonna pass.

If he's a weapons tech expert like Tony Stark or Lucius Fox, I doubt he'd have trouble with a work visa.

I think this is pretty much what we could have got if Jack Black had actual become the Green Lantern. Only that would have been much worse, not really sure what to make of this though.

Dogs brings up a good point. GH def seems to come across like the sidekick here. Then again, Kato is by far the coolest sidekick to have ever be created (that's right Robin, you heard me! With your little boy shorts, you fag!!!) IDK guys, this could either suck major ballz or be half decent. I think based on the trailer, I'm actually gonna give it a chance.

I never read the comic, The TV show was just before my time, So I have NO stake on what came before..Rogen is a great comedy actor..his BEST movie..Pinapple Express!

This is going to be a fun movie to see! but NOT in 3D!

It doesn't have to be rocket science, it's just an action/comedy..and that's were it will stay.

It looks like Seth Rogen is much like his other roles. Same facial expressions...same thing different movie. Not sure I like that for the role of Green Hornet, but Kato kicks some ass! I'll look forward to renting it and watching it then.

Yeah, it looks fun and I'd watch it more for Kato. They sure had enough time to put together a decent trailer. I'd still wait for reviews. Could be the best bits of the movie are already in this trailer.

Seth rogen doesnt looks like a masked vigilante,he looks more like a rapist or a child molester.
Kato and Cristoph Waltz are the best thing of this movie.

I am a big fan of the Green Hornet. I was first exposed to it in the 90s when the FX network first started and they aired the old tv show from the 60s then i got into the NOW comics and bought the old radio show tapes. I think this movie looks good.

About why Kato stays with the Green Hornet it is because Britt Reid from the 40's who later became the Green Hornet saved Kato from drowning so its an honor thing. And all his decedents have helped the Green Hornet since. Also the original Brett Reid was the great nephew of the Lone Ranger.

Also Kato has always pulled the Green Hornet's fat out of the fryer.

Looks really good. I've been excitted about this for a while. Seth Rogen is a good actor and writter, Michael Gondry is a good director, and Christoph Waltz is a fantastic actor, so I am going to trust the talent on this. Trailer looks cool and looks like it will balance the comedy and the action well, without being to corny and jokey, but also not taking itself way to seriously. It looks like Iron Man, Pineapple Express, Batman, Dick Tracy, and Transporter 2 rolled into one enjoyable action/comedy.

I think Rogen will do a good job, he is a funny actor and will bring something new to the character, a nice new twist that will be diffrent then what we've seen before. They aren't doing the same thing with having a serious actor play the same role. They are taking a chance with a good actor in a role he can do well in. Plus, just because he has done comedies doesn't mean he can't be serious. Look at Sean Penn, he did Fast Times at Ridgemount High, and then did Dead Man Walking and Milk. Robert Downey Jr. did Wierd Science before he did Caplin. Comedy is just a place to start out and an actor can show real potential. Rogen will mix the comedy and the action well to create with Michael Gondry, a superhero film the likes of which we haven't seen. Hope it does well, sorry for the long post.

I don't know anything about the character, but I must say I didn't think this movie would look good at all.. Looks pretty good from the trailer, but only the actual movie will tell. I will check this one out

GH was always the sidekick to Kato. Kato was always The Man as far as I was concerned.

I'm not going to judge the movie by the trailer.
