Green Lantern movie news! Though nothing in today's report is as shocking as an image of
Abin Sur's spacecraft or interesting as a
visual effects breakdown for the film, it serves it's purpose: Giving you Lan
tards a play-by-play of the production progress.
The first tidbit I have to offer comes from
Douglas M. Griffin, who classifies himself as a "working screen actor, bedeviled writer, unrepentant geek, oft-time ne'er-do-well." Griffin landed a small role in the film last month and was on set for a few days of production. He offered these updates via his Twitter account:
Next up we have news that veteran model and Louisiana native
Rebecca Rutherford will have to step up when
Green Lantern lead actress Blake Lively is not around:
For those of you not familiar with movie industry jargon, a "photo double" is a stand in for an actor or actress. They are used when an actor/actress does not need to take part in a scene, but a physical presence would help the flow of filming. (i.e. actors involved in the scene won't need to talk to empty space).
Here's a side by side comparison of Blake and Rebecca. They look fairly interchangeable to me. Though it does seem rather unfair Ryan Reynolds gets the privilege of having face time with both of these women, and at the end of the day goes home to Scarlett Johansson.
Lastly, over sixteen New Orleans residents have gleefully revealed their castings as extras in a "rooftop party scene" for
Green Lantern. The scene is set to be filmed within the next few weeks in downtown New Orleans. Both Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are reported to be involved in the scene; though in what capacity has yet to be revealed.
That's all for today, folks! Thanks go out to the actors involved in this film for taking the time to let fans in on the little details that get us through the day. Also, a very big thank you to
Erik Amaya at ComicBookResources.com for diligently following our constant
Green Lantern production updates!
