First Behind-the-Scenes Video of Green Lantern Movie Set

A New Orleans news station was the first to officially visit the secretive Green Lantern movie set and has provided us with a closer look at the filming taking place at Lakefront Airport.

The cast and crew for the Martin Campbell directed film Green Lantern have been hard at work filming throughout the New Orleans, Louisiana, area since mid-March. Though fans have been lucky to see several dozen leaked images of the movie set and several cast members, Warner Bros has been able to keep the majority of on location shooting under wraps.

Several days ago, a local New Orleans news station was able to visit one of the movie's sets, which happened to be Lakeshore Airport. Lakeshore is being used as the backdrop for the fictitious Ferris Air headquarters and airfield, where both the film's protagonist, Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds), and his father had worked as test pilots. The video was shot on day 80 of the film's production, and gives us a look at one of the first scenes for the movie with young actor Gattlin Griffith. Griffith's role has yet to be officially revealed, though it's been speculated for months that he is portraying Ryan Reynold's boyhood counterpart:

In case you've missed it, here's an excerpt from the film's official synopsis: 'In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.'

Green Lantern will continue filming in the New Orleans area through August, 2010; though there will be a short break at the end of July so that cast and crew members are able to attend the film's panel at this year's San Diego Comic Con International. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Mark Strong, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Temuera Morrison and Tim Robbins, Green Lantern is scheduled for theatrical release June 17th, 2011.

They forgot to mention Mark Strong. That's not right. He's one of the most important characters.

Multi- Don't forget all the fanfic posted as actual news when he started or news articles with no sources. It might not have been his intention but it's too "sensationalistic" for my taste. This site isn't nor should it be considered a tabloid.

Nice pics Poni@!

Way to keep after GL!

I really appreciate it, myself!

I was hoping for a real suit tho'!
Oh, well I can see why they're going
CG.

Great stuff Poni!

I actually worry about CGI. There is a fine line between use and abuse. I pray to Thor that Martin Campbell will know how to balance it just right.

p.s. still think Blake Lively was a mistake :-p

One of the best things about Hollywood magic is illusion...I don't care if the suit is CGI or not as long as the characters, special effects and story are the best they can be...

Right you are Poni@!

She looks amazing in "Pippa Lee"!

She's an actress! You can't just
judge her by her part on GG.
She's only doing a younger character
on Gossip Girls. That's why they call
it acting. She looks and sounds way
different in other roles.

@McLovin - My friend saw Blake Lively in "The Town" and said she was amazing in it. I know she is not everyone's first choice, but the way that Martin Campbell and Ryan Reynolds are talking her up, i have faith that she will be awesome.

This has to be the scene with Martin Jordan. The kid wearing the Green shirt, looks just like the kid in Geoff John's Secret Origin storyline. It is the same outfit and everyone else is wearing outfits that are not modern.

I agree with @mclovin, Blake is still a bad choice, I will give her the proper bashing I am sure when the film comes out, and from the GL fans Ive talked to, they hate the choice.

@DDD you forget Lively is suppose to be playing a 30 year old, so was Bosworth in Superman, look how that turned out.

@poni you know I respect peoples opinions, but I still dont think she can pull this off
claybo4131
claybo4131 - 7/9/2010, 8:14 AM
@casino of course they are talking her up, they arent going to pull a Dan Gilbert on her are they?

I just have that bad feeling about her in it I cant see her in the movie without thinking of her in Gossip GIrl, a lot of comic fans will be thinking of that too. She doesnt LOOK like Carol, like Bosworth didnt look like Lois or even act like her (Cant say anything about Holmes or Gyllenhaal in Batman since they werent comic characters but they werent that great either)

clay- y do u care if Blake looks like carol? because does Ryan look like gl does bale look like Bruce?
Shaman
Shaman - 7/9/2010, 8:31 AM
I agree with Claybo & McLovin. She doesn't "look" like Carol. I think "lackluster" when i look at her. I was expecting way wwwwwaaaaaaaayyyyyy more for Star Sapphire. She could have all the acting chops in the world, she just doesn't sparkle with me ;)

Still, she's only one part of the film so i don't think she'll affect the outcome for me. There is always a recast option for the sequel. I just hope they don't keep TDK's casting agency for it. Blerh!

Multi- You gotta put the jelly first, then the whipped cream, THEN the syrup ;))

claybo4131 - 7/9/2010, 8:31 AM
@flames ok who do you think would have been a better fit, Lively or Evangaline Lilly?

Ryan is a better choice than Justin Timberlake, what was JT going to do sing and dance the oath
Shaman
Shaman - 7/9/2010, 8:33 AM
Evangaline Lilly is the IDEAL Carol Ferris. Can't get better than that. Good one, Claybo ;)
claybo4131
claybo4131 - 7/9/2010, 8:34 AM
@shaman Agree to a point, Batman Begins was an awesome movie despite Katie Holmes bland look and performance as Rachel Dawes, though its hard to compare her to a comic character since the character was made up. And Maggie G had no emotion when she was about to be blown to Kingdom Come.

And I dont find Lively all that attractive anyway, I agree, i dont see her looking like Star Sapphire at all later on unless they rush this whole thing and make her Star in this which would not be wise, you save other stuff for sequels.

Who would you like to have seen as Carol @shaman, Everyone knows my choice would have been Evangaline Lilly.

I still think Mark Strong will be a good Sinestro, but man I wish they had gotten Hugo Weaving man, oh well DC's loss is Marvels gain
claybo4131
claybo4131 - 7/9/2010, 8:36 AM
@shaman what is funny, during the first season of Lost, it donned on me that she would be my first and only choice for Carol Ferris in a GL movie, and everyone whom I told agreed with me.

At least Ryan is GL and is saving this movie a bit, cause if the poster said "Justin Timberlake, Blake Lively, Green Lantern Summer 2011" I would have puked just like when I saw the Human Centipede trailer or 2 girls one cup.

Shaman - 7/9/2010, 8:52 AM
Tea- Lively is your "Anna Kendrick" LOL

Claybo- Lilly all the [frick]ing way! As for Strong, both Sherlock as well as Kick Ass proves he'd be just as awesome as Weaving so i'm exstatic either way! Plus i think Weaving will give us an Epic Red Skull!!!
flames809
flames809 - 7/9/2010, 8:53 AM
clay- idk which one but since the director picked Blake i guess he saw fit the part than the other actors. and u dnt know maybe if Justin got picked he could of been good in it. and one actor is not saving the movie is the story not the actors but the story. and how does dc loss if they didn't pick one actor?
claybo4131
claybo4131 - 7/9/2010, 8:56 AM
@shaman yeah and looking at him in Sherlock with the slicked back hair (even though it is a wig, hes bald) I can see it now looking at a photo of him. He was also in Robin Hood as the villian as well.

Weaving will be a great Red Skull as well, still trying to see him with a German accent but I am sure he will pull it off.

I just wonder who could have been a worse choice than Lively or is there, ok I agree Kristen Stewart would have been a worse choice
