Geoff Johns Talks Green Lantern at C2E2

The DC exec shares a few more tidbits about the film, including a confirmation regarding a certain actress' hair color...

During the inaugural Brightest Day comic panel, fan favorite author and new DC executive Geoff Johns answered a few questions about the highly anticipated Green Lantern movie:

- Though fans expressed interest in Johns returning as a writer for TV's Smallville (especially to include a Green Lantern cameo), he declined, saying, "Well...I'm pretty busy right now. I think I'll let the movie do Green Lantern."

- When asked by another fan if a Sinestro Corps War animated feature was on the horizon, Johns responded, "I haven't heard anything about that. But would you guys want to see the Sinestro Corps animated movie?" At which point the panel audience cheered.

- Johns was asked why it was decided for Sinestro (portrayed by Mark Strong in the film) not to take center stage as the villain for the first film; he responded, "I just try to make him more interesting to me. I think he's gonna be great, and you'll really like Sinestro in the film if you liked him in my books"

- The last bit of info Johns divulged was whether actress Blake Lively, who is portraying Carol Ferris in the film, will be sporting brown locks on screen. It was first reported here a few days ago that Lively was indeed seen on set with dark brown hair. Johns not only confirmed it himself, but added, "She looks great. Trust me."

For those of you who don't already know, I've just returned from my unofficial visit to the New Orleans set(s) of Green Lantern. I couldn't help but smile at that last tidbit from Johns regarding Blake. I know there are a few people who are skeptical about the info I've been putting out, but I assure you, this isn't the last time info I've released will be confirmed by a higher authority.

I hope he is right about Sinestro, he is a cool character.

Too bad about Smallville though.

A Sinestro Corps movie would be cool!

@Multi. Great find and good to have you back!

Hope the movie turns out good. Bizarre that the two leads have somewhat large age differences.

And that also means that Blake Lively is probably done with teenage roles.

If the green lantern movie does well, then I am predicting that Lively is gunna have soo many roles offered to her. This could be her big break! Oh and I wonder how long it will be till somebody fan-casts her into a Marvel role.

My wife and I are big Smallville fans as well. We have been wondering when they would put a GL in there. The delay probably had something to do with property rights (similar to not having Batman on the show). I thought we would have a Golden Age GL earlier in the season, when they featured the JSA. GREAT JOB!

@Nytwng. Alan Scott was in it; just as a cameo.

@Poni. Any chance you might remember what was said about Brightest Day? I am crazy for Blackest Night and Brightest Day right now. lol. Would be much appreciated ^_^

Sparkles

I must have missed something.
He was asked a direct question that required a 'yes' or a 'no', yet Johns gave us a politician's answer (nicely done, I might add). How was that a confirmation? Is this 'confirmation' based soley on your trust in Johns' beneficence towards not letting us down with the golden-locked Nordic look?

I wasn't doubting your story, I was trying to see (based soley on your article's quote, of course) how it corroborates your testimony. After writing this comment I'll head over to CBR to watch. ;o

Edit:
I can't seem to see/find it. Will you please post a link?

I was there as well for those of you who went to the Green Lantern and Flash Revelations panel, I asked a lot of questions and thank'd Johns for the moment when Stewart creats a squad of Marines because for someone who is freshly joining the Navy it was awesome, the panel erupted in applause after I said this, awesome, going again next year for sure
