Green Lantern VFX Worker Speaks Out On Various Fan-Skeptic Aspects?

An undisclosed special effects worker on the Ryan Reynolds-starrer Green Lantern movie, speaks up on various elements of the film that may have had fans concerned. Check it out!

Courtesy of SHH forums user "protocida", via 4chan, a visual effects worker on the Martin Campbell-directed Green Lantern cinematic adaption, speaks out. Sharing thoughts on many aspects of the film that many 'Lantern' fans had been worried of, essentially from the official teaser trailer, check it out what he has to say:

"The story will be alright. Some minor things that hardcore fans might gripe about, but it's gonna be pretty good. I can tell you the special effects will be quite the spectacle. The 3D is done pretty well and doesn't have a schlocky feel to it. Sony Imageworks (the main VFX house behind the show) are currently pushing VERY heavily on pushing out the last few shots. A friend of mine is about to head over there in a couple of weeks to finish some of their FX shots.

The only "problem" I would see is fans accepting Reynolds as Hal Jordan, which I don't think would be much of an issue since GL is nowhere near a high profile character as Batman or Superman."
On the rumors of an entire Lantern trilogy already mapped out, he says,"All I can say is that Warner didn't plunk just under $200 million dollars on this movie to pull off a one trick poney."

Being that actions are better than words, hopefully the 2nd trailer, which should be released any day now, can gain faith. Anyhow, look for Green Lantern in theaters June 17, in 3D!

They've already said with Harry Potter coming to an end they're looking for new franchises to carry into the future. Anyone that thinks they are gonna half ass this or even Superman needs to start thinking logically.

Good to know. Hopefully we get the trailer soon. Projectionlist has changed the trailer release date to 3/11/11 but I dont trust them that much since they are saying "There are conflicting reports about the cap trailer being in front of Rango" (which could mean "we were wrong, please dont kill us")

I hope the trailer comes soon and it absolutely blows our minds ;)

and BTW... I'm not a GL hater, it's just that that was the only thing he could have said about a movie he was involved in

@TheBlackWidow

The guys at Projectionlist said that any trailer date with an asterick (*) next to it was pure speculation. Drive Angry had an asterick next to it. I'm not sure if Rango had one but it is a Paramount film and it is going to be a pretty big family-friendly release. You can also bet that the second GL trailer will be with Suckerpunch, seeing as its a Warner Bros and Legendary production as well as a film directed by Zack Snyder.

Some technical work they haven't finished (which is predicted) and the quote "Some minor things that hardcore fans might gripe about" but every CBM has those. What's new?

@Jimdlux: You must be a hardcore fan if you hear something from some tech guy, that 4chan said was real, and immeadiatly bash on the movie because of it. Unless you priorly hated the look/sound of the film. Which is a whole different story.

is he trying to give us a warning that reynolds sucks as hal jordan.

mark strong as sinestro will be the best performance in this movie.

I have confidence in the movie Reynolds is actually a good actor he is really good in Buried if he can hold focus in a movie where he is in a coffin for over an hour he will be fine with this.

CGI was great in the first trailer for shots that were 2 months into post production which almost every one has failed to realize. Worry if the suit looks the same as the 1st trailer (which it shouldn't considering Mark Strong and Ryan both wore the CGI suits for filming the movie and Sinestro suit looked better than Hal's) in the next one since it is six months after post production.

I was thinking that they were still working on the film. It's not finished and people start [female dog]in' and complaining. My complaint is with the "Hard to Please" comic book fan. Stop [female dog]in' and be grateful that these movies have been made. We've had a great run of films starting with 1989's Batman.... sure theres been more misses than hits but damn atleast they are getting made. When I was a kid growing up in the 1970's we had left over animation from the late 1960's to look forward to. That's why I always call most of you "MF's" because the shoe fits. Ungrateful bunch of heathens. Just save up your allowances or roll grandma for a few coins and go to the movies and stfu already. "YOU BASTARDS ARE [female dog]ES"! EXCELSIOR!

as long as they get rid of the "lets get these pants off and fly some planes" scene it will be ok with what i've seen so far... (also why didn't i like that scene GL fanboys? because it made no sense! i can't even tell what the joke is or even if it was meant to be a joke!)

So much (female dog)ing. This movie is going to be all kinds of awesome.

We're getting Thor, Cap and Green Lantern, which I think will all be incredible hits. Not sure about X-Men or Spidey.
