Martin Campbell And Peter Sarsgaard Talk Green Lantern

Check out these video interviews from Hitflix. Director Martin Campbell talks about Kilowog, confirms that Sinestro will not be a villain this time around and talks about taking the Super hero movie into space. Sarsgaard speaks about the prosthetics needed for him to play Hector Hammond..

Campbell says if he could be any character he would be Kilowog, the "gentle giant". Says he's a "lovely character". Of Sinestro he says that in this story he is the hero, and later on becomes the villain. He also talks a little about the challenges of doing a movie about a space faring super hero. Producer Donald DeLine also has a few words.

Sarsgaard says he really enjoyed acting under the prosthetics and that he's a "prosthetics spokesperson now". He also says that he doesn't pay any attention to the fanboy's take on how he should play the character.

There is more too, worth a watch. If you head on over to Hitflix via the link below there is also a vid interview with Blake Lively(Carol Ferris) but she doesn't really say anything we haven't covered in other articles.

Green Lantern will be with us June 17, 2011...and we're working on that SDCC footage boys n girls!

I'm glad they are saving Sinestro's turn for a sequel. And I'm pretty confident that Saarsgard will be great.

i had a feeling they would wait till the next movie for sinestro to turn. they probably will hint that he has other motives in this movie though.

Does anyone know where I can score the set of the these posters? I think they would look great next to my last two Batman poster sets.

Does anyone else think the posters suck...the only reason i know what the posters are about is because i'm familiar with comics but for the average joe they are gonna be like wtf its like putting a picture of thor's hammer on a poster with his reflection in it without the movies name and expecting people what its about u know i have a bad feeling about this movie

@Bill- I think the posters are less to show something recognizable and more to pique interest and get people asking questions. These are teaser posters and I bet there will be different posters later. I actually can't help but think the cast is playing peek-a-boo in the posters, but I do have young children.

Hector Hammond is a perfect inclusion in the script since the Parallax entity will be introduced!

Wow, Sarsgaard sounds like kind of a douche.

Not paying any attention to how the FANS OF THE SOURCE MATERIAL know it should be.

Whereas Mark Strong went from literally having never heard of Green Lantern to demanding that the character's appearance be straight out of the comics.

I salute you, Mark Strong!

@upupandaway

yea but when the public ask questions they typically don't go watch it for fear of getting confused and especially if the poster isn't bad ass enough...too me though these posters are ok but they don't make me want to go rushing to the theaters right away u know

Sarsgard is a very strange actor. I get the feeling that he does not like talking to people and gets irritated easily. I may not like Sarsgard as a person, which makes him perfect as Hector lol.

Bradley Cooper would be good as Guy Gardner only if he does not do the Batman voice when he audition to play Hal Jordan LOL

@ slimybug: Yeah The fanboys have many opinions about how the films should be from the source material. I'm a fanboy so chances are I can express an opinion or topic about the green lantern film or any film and what we say will never be heard during filming.

What do we matter? I'll tell you, we can only hope the director and producer will follow the source faithfully in this case its all good !!!!

RE: SARSGAARD——
although acting as a profession isn't as noble as, say, "nuclear surgeon," "inner-city middle-school literacy teacher," or "homeless shelter case worker," it IS a difficult and exacting exercise, and every actor approaches the task differently.

actors find the source and inspiration for characters from WITHIN—if they can't find the characters inside themselves, it won't work. some take guidance from fans, some don't... but it's not a CHOICE... it's just their technique. Sarsgaard is just one of the guys that has to get his motivation 100% from inside. It's how he does it, and if he tried to do it a different way just because it's a CBM, he would suck.

i wouldn't be concerned about sarsgaard... he's a top-shelf actor and will not disappoint. besides, its Campbell, Johns & DeLines's job to keep it true to source—if they guide him right, it'll be right.

AlternateNo4 - 8/1/2010, 7:38 AM
RE: COOPER——
i like him, but am i the only one that thinks he's (a) too handsome and (b) too likeable to play guy gardner? gardner is a lumpy, sinewy, hairy, lantern-jawed offensive lineman type and he's never really been much in the looks department.

plus, i've been around a while and i have all of his GL comics, the whole run of Warrior AND all his stuff in GLC... and the guy is a dick. he's not just a playa and a class clown, he's a rude, sneering, obnoxious pig. yeah, he's got a noble heart, etc, but he shows it once every six months. that's why the character is so great—the writers have resisted the temptation to soften him up and sand down the edges. the only thing that has matured in guy is his sense of duty to his comrades.

there's still the question of whether or not guy has a little brain damage, too, and if he was a little nuts in the first place. isn't there an actor that's not as pretty, not as nice and seems a little crazy? there's gotta be.

Alternate: Scott always looks like he is quite a few cards short of a full deck and he has played the part of a rude, obnoxious, sneering pig before. Thats about all he ever plays.

@AlternateNo4

have u seen Wedding Crashers cause Bradley Cooper was in it and he acted like a d!ck in the movie so i believe he can pull of Guy Gardner.

@Hawksblueyes

Seann William Scott should play The Flash
AlternateNo4
AlternateNo4 - 8/1/2010, 9:40 AM
@jazzman—i did see that but i forgot about it... maybe you're right. there are a TON of people that think he's perfect, so maybe i need to take another look. i still think he's too good looking though. gardner doesn't need to be ron-perlman-level, but he shouldn't be prettier than hal, john or kyle. isn't there a young mickey rourke out there anywhere?

@hawkblueyes—i'm editing this comment... before i said i 100% liked scott as flash, but i reread your comment and have to admit that while i think he'd be a good choice, you have a point when you mention that he looks a little "off" most of the time. so maybe that means he WOULD be better as guy than barry...

bradley cooper is perfect for guy gardner, i hope if guy ever gets introduced into the GL movies its him playing guy. and hes not too "pretty" guy is a ladies mad as well. he was a football jock after all.
