Only rumored a few weeks ago, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that The Green Mile & Daredevil actor Michael Clarke Duncan has reached a deal with Warner Bros., to voice Kilowog in Martin Campbell's Green Lantern adaption.

Michael Clarke Duncan is in negotiations to voice the character of Kilowog in Warner Bros.’s Green Lantern movie. While studios sometimes end up moving on, sources say Duncan received his offer Tuesday and is now negotiating.

Following the news of the first voice actor announced, Geoffrey Rush for the bird-like alien Tomar-Re, Duncan has notably provided his voice for Quiznos commercials, several video games, as well as the Kingpin in Spider-Man: The New Animated Series. While we've spotted the brutish Kilowog in the trailer, what do you think of his voice actor? Perfect casting in my opinion.

Anyhow, starring Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Mark Strong, Peter Sarsgaard, Tim Robbins and Angela Bassett, look for Green Lantern in theaters June 17, in 3D!

If he is still in negotiations then that must mean Kilowog has very few lines....still that sounds pretty awesome, he will work perfect for the role

Frog@ Michael's voice fits with Kilowog better and it matches his body type. On top of that Michael's voice has the command about power that Kilowog needs.

Voice acting doesn't exactly take forever to do. Kilowog can still have a decent number of lines, like you'd expect from a supporting character. I mean...you can shoot entire movies, GOOD movies, within weeks, hell, days. With voice acting, almost everything that takes time, you know, preparing a shot, sets, different locations, stunt work etc. is not an issue, it's just go in, prepare your performance and then BAM - take after take until you get it right. For a supporting character, even if Kilowog had LOTS of dialog for one of those, there'd still be no way that it would take more than a few days.

Why did they wait so long to cast this? The animation has to be completed by now, so the most he can do is a dub job, rather than an actual voice performance (i.e. Setting the mood/pacing of the line readings).

You can nail an entire 2 hours film worth of dialogue in a week of laid back recording sessions no problem.

I've recorded a lot of ADR myself. An actor as good as Michael, and with his voice work experience, will do it in no time.

Negotiations? They don't have the voices already? Man, that's risky.

They also still have all of the music to record, so a voice is nothing compared to that.

@Jate......I understand how voice acting works, it actually does depend on how far they have gotten with Post, if there are any changes they will have to alter all of his mouth movements. If they have all his mouth movements all he has to do is just do the lines and they sync it later.

Looks like that's another Marvel actor who's gone over to DC. But to be fair Marvel snagged Tommy Lee Jones and Terence Stamp.

Darkmatter@ How deep Ving Rhames voice is would fit perfectly for Kilowog but I have never imagined Kilowog's voice being as smooth as Ving Rhames. To me Michael Clark Duncan has that deep roughness to his voice that Kilowog needs.

Michael Clark Duncan has always been my choice to actually portray Darkseid.

For some strange reason, I suddenly imagined Micheal Madsen's voice as Kilowog. Didn't he voice the character once?
Kurbbsyde

See I see Ving Rhames as Darkseid. and I thought Duncan was a good Kingpin, didn't get his hands dirty enough but he was a good choice. For Kilowog, I agree with Duncan as the voice. I didnt really feel that Madsen fit it at all.
JatevinM
JatevinM - 4/12/2011, 6:43 PM
Synister@ Ving is also a good choice for Darkseid because of how smooth his voice it but I always envisioned Michael Clark Duncan as actually portraying Darkseid with the help of motion capture and some CGI. His facial features to me fit Darkseid a bit more than Ving Rhames. But Rhames voice has the smooth regalness that Darkseid demands.

ummm they are still casting for the voice of Kilowog? right? maybe jire him for the pure fact that he has very little time to get the part down. It's also a good fit.

@Synister, Thanks, I knew I remembered him voicing Kilowog somewhere. @Jatevin, Micheal Clarke Duncan would be perfect for the mo-cap of Darkseid and the voice of Ving Rhames. Now all we need is a suitable film to put Darkseid in (Justice League, anyone?) ;)
