Green Lantern opened up to mostly negative reviews and a disappointing performance at the box office. At this point, it's likely that the only thing which will ensure a sequel is if Warner Bros. can claw back some of the movies budget from DVD and Blu-Ray sales. Green Lantern was the only superhero movie released this year (excluding The Green Hornet) that I only saw once, and while I can't pretend that I liked the movie all that much, I'll definitely buy it when it's released here a few days after the US. Why? Well, the promise of an extended cut is very appealing, while I can't deny that there are actually a handful of moments I'm looking forward to reliving in glorious high-definition. But what about you guys? Did you decide that you'll be buying Green Lantern the second it hits shelves, or avoiding it like the plague? Here are the results in full...

Green Lantern is set to be released on DVD and Blu-Ray in the US on October 14th and in the UK on October 17th.

Honestly, it wasn't real good, but it wasn't real bad to me either. The problem with it was they rushed the story and the guy playing Hector Hummond was absolutely terrible.

Ryan Reynolds played his role pretty well, I would still rather have him play the Flash, but he does a pretty good Hal Jordan.

It was a below average movie, that wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good either, and I would be hesitant to buy it on DVD and or Blu Ray.

Thats sad that so many people wont be supporting first efforts on DC WB part. We all should be glad we even got a GL movie to begin with ...it was a brave step in a direction they have never gon e before with film....marvel has several movies out with their characters....but its also cuz they are all easier to adapt than something like Superman and GL. I applaud them for their efforts and have no doubts that its sequels will be far better. I will be buying it.

The movie had it's faults, sure. It needs more Hal Sinestro dynamic, more JJ Abrams, BETTER SFX HOUSE and a decent SCRIPT! Except for that, I liked Ryan Reynolds in the role of Hal Jordan. They should've made his hair exactly like he has in the The Change-Up. But yes, I am buying this in hopes for a proposed sequel with a complete fresh start!

So obviously this is quite a good example or a quiet mayority. Evertime there is any article about GL there are alwas soo much haters in the comments section shouting how awful GL was and now the mayority said they will DEFINETELY watch the movie again. LOL - Btw I didn't vote

@RunDTC: How is it a waste if I enjoyed the movie?

@PaulRom: Totally, dude. This film may have had some issues, but if they get a better director and learn from their mistakes, then the sequel will be amazing.

I can't help but laugh at all the people proclaiming so agressivly that they're not going to buy a movie and claim anyone who does is wasting their money. That's our problem you [frick]ing losers. Congratulations you're not going to buy something. A lot of people collect comic book related merchandise, this would fall into that category. How is something like buying a DVD enough to actually piss anyone off?

@jjmeylar: once you see it again, you may recognize the many flaws.
JWStubner
JWStubner - 9/30/2011, 10:33 AM
Hopefully we get a sequel with Ryan Reynolds NOT playing Ryan Reynolds like he did in this one. Mark Strong as Sinestro alone is a reason to buy this and watch it. That and the first scene on Oa is probably the best CBM scene of the year even if Green Lantern was the worst CBM of the year...unless you count Conan.

@JohnnyKrypton LMAO!!! might as well make a triple threat... throw in Jonah Hex too!

and use it as an example of what not to do, when making a CBM.

Sure there were flaws in this movie. Ryan was good for a beginner GL. Hal always acted that way in the beginning.

Im looking forward to it. Hope there is a sequel too and maybe they can live up to the potential GL has.

@ Avalanche731

Personally I think the smarter move for Warner Bros would be to go the opposite route of Marvel make a Justice League movie first. That way at least film audiences will be more familiar with The Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, ect. and then WB can just make spin off films from that. If they do go that route I think New Frontier would be the perfect story to follow.

I'll buy it.. Though I wasn't too impressed in the theater, I'm a sucker for Hero flicks. Hopefully the extended cut is a little better if any. I'm sure my 5yr old will love it. LOL
