Tyrese Gibson Continues His Crusade To Become The Next GREEN LANTERN

It's no secret that Tyrese Gibson wants to be the next 'Green Lantern'. The Furious 7 actor has been campaigning for months, informing anyone who'll listen that he'd be happy to suit up as 'John Stewart'. He's even hinted at more serious developments happening, including a meeting with Warner Bros over the part. For now, it's unclear how close he is to actually getting the part, but it's hard not to admire his enthusiasm for the role.

On Wednesday, following rumors that Chris Pine would in fact be playing 'Hal Jordan' in the DC Cinematic Universe, Gibson posted an interesting piece of fan-art on his Instagram account. The image showed he and Pine suited up as members of the Green Lantern Corps (and can be viewed below). He was later approached by Entertainment Tonight about the picture, where he continued to play coy about his potential involvement with DC:

"There are certain things I can't speak on, but I will say, however this works out, it's definitely the fans' fault. I was at home minding my own business and fans start creating these fan-made videos of me as Green Lantern and I looked into it. I've been a fan of the Green Lantern. I took the oath, and I had a meeting at Warner Bros. and certain things were said and talked about. We'll just see what happens."

"Listen, these muscles are here and they're ready to be used. There are lot of people, domestically and internationally, who's got love with your boy... I'm coming into this thing with some fans and some box office receipts behind my name and I say that proudly and humbly. I just think I deserve a shot at suiting up and becoming the Green Lantern."

Additionally, when asked by ET whether he'd appear at the WB's SDCC panel, Gibson responded: "You never know, I might be there on the other side of an announcement. You never know."

It's quite possible that Tyrese is just playing games with the media to grab WB's attention, and rally more support from his loyal fans. That said, this tactic is rumored to have worked for his Fast & Furious co-star Vin Diesel in securing a deal with rival comics company Marvel. What do you think? Are DC/WB seriously looking at Tyrese to play John Stewart? If so, is he the right man for the role? As always, be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below!
