Lee Pace Says 'We've Knocked It Out the Park' with GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Discussing how both The Hobbit and Guardians of the Galaxy may have turned him out of desires to play a human character again, Lee Pace gushes more about his role in the Marvel film. Check it out!

Going from sharing the screen with a dragon in the last two films of the The Hobbit series, to a talking raccoon in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Lee Pace tells Total Film he's not sure he'll play a human character again. “A racoon with a machine gun!” he laughed. “It's been quite an interesting year. I don't know if I'll ever play a human again! I was a vampire in Twilight, the king of the elves in The Hobbit and now an alien warlord in Guardians of the Galaxy”

About his experience playing Ronan the Accuser in Guardians, Pace enthuses “It was awesome! That movie's going to kick ass!” He adds, “We've just knocked it out of the park, it's going to be wild! I kept looking over at [director] James Gunn saying, 'Is it too much? Am I over the top? Pull me back whenever you're ready!' And he was like, 'More, more!' He's a true villain!”

Asked if he read comics growing up: “I'm a very curious person, I don't leave any stone unturned. I remember being interested in comics and I really liked Silver Surfer. Guardians of the Galaxy is a bit deeper into the Marvel Universe, which I think is to its advantage. Iron Man was something that people were not super-familiar with when that movie first came out. I think people are certainly going to like this film and I certainly hope they do. It's fun!”

“Guardians of the Galaxy,” the next epic adventure from Marvel Studios, is directed by James Gunn from his screenplay, with a story by Nicole Perlman and Gunn, and the film will introduce audiences to a whole new side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The all-star cast includes Chris Pratt as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, two-time Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Academy Award® winner Benicio del Toro as The Collector, Academy Award nominee John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, and six-time Academy Award nominee Glenn Close as Nova Prime, with Vin Diesal as Groot and Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is scheduled for release August 1, 2014!

This film looks awesome to me as a fan but I'm hoping it will connect with a more general audience. It could struggle though which is my worry.

Still can't believe we are getting GotG. If you read the comic it seems almost impossible to be able to put this on film. A ton of good movies coming out next year, although this is the one I cannot wait to see.

Not to cry over spoiled spilled milk but seeing how out there this movie is and scale it's appearing to be it would have been really interesting to see a more comic accurate mandarin.

Oh God, if they could put a scene in the movie like the scene in the comic when he bashed Black Dwarf's head in.... I would die from excitement right there on the spot.

Why do they keep acting like Iron Man wasn't popular. He was very popular. Most ppl only knew him from his own cartoon series in the 90s, but many ppl knew who he was.

Charleslord-gunn didnt say that, the reason we arent getting a trailer before the end of the year is because he wants the vfx on the trailer to look as good as they would in the film so i expect a trailer january or february
