Beyond the 2014 release date and the so-far confirmed interstellar superhero roster, very little is known regarding the “big space epic” expansion of Marvel's cinematic universe, titled Guardians of the Galaxy. And while a director hasn't even been announced yet, an alleged summary of the movie's plot has already surfaced via two industry sites, Production Weekly and It's On The Grid. Focusing on the main concept, main character and main conflict, the plausible logline indicates the much-anticipated film will be about:

“A U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants.”

Considering the two separate sources are considerably legit industry sites, the logline is plausible. Of course, we still must await confirmation. Anyhow, the “U.S. pilot” mentioned in the summary is likely Peter Quill, better known as Star-Lord. And the “futuristic ex-cons” may evidently refer to the other Guardians - Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Groot, Rocket Raccoon. (Special thanks to Chewy)

Another possibility for the U.S. pilot is Vance Astrovik, also known as Vance Astro. In the comics, he joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 18, becoming the youngest in the astronaut training program. Volunteering for the first manned interstellar mission ever conducted by the U.S. years later, he was launched into space; landing on a planet called Alpha Centauri. And this led to the the 1969 Guardians' formation. Perhaps they're villains?

Marvel Studios has dubbed “Guardians of the Galaxy” a “big space epic” that will introduce various cosmic entities from the Marvel Comics universe. The superhero team first appeared in “Marvel Super-Heroes #18” in 1969, created by Arnold Drake & Gene Colan. In 2008, the team was rebooted by Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning in “Guardians of the Galaxy (vol. 2) #1.” The team's live-action roster will include Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot. And also Thanos, the villain who made his live-action debut unexpectedly during Marvel's The Avengers mid-credits stinger, is expected to reprise his role. With a screenplay drafted by Nicole Perlman, and reworked by Chris McCoy, no director is yet attached. And distributor Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures has scheduled “Guardians of the Galaxy” for release on August 1, 2014.
