Marvel's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Plot Revealed?

Summing up the movie's main concept, character and conflict, a fairly plausible logline for Marvel Studios' upcoming intergalactic superhero team-up, Guardians of the Galaxy has emerged!

Beyond the 2014 release date and the so-far confirmed interstellar superhero roster, very little is known regarding the “big space epic” expansion of Marvel's cinematic universe, titled Guardians of the Galaxy. And while a director hasn't even been announced yet, an alleged summary of the movie's plot has already surfaced via two industry sites, Production Weekly and It's On The Grid. Focusing on the main concept, main character and main conflict, the plausible logline indicates the much-anticipated film will be about:

“A U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants.”

Considering the two separate sources are considerably legit industry sites, the logline is plausible. Of course, we still must await confirmation. Anyhow, the “U.S. pilot” mentioned in the summary is likely Peter Quill, better known as Star-Lord. And the “futuristic ex-cons” may evidently refer to the other Guardians - Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Groot, Rocket Raccoon. (Special thanks to Chewy)

Another possibility for the U.S. pilot is Vance Astrovik, also known as Vance Astro. In the comics, he joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 18, becoming the youngest in the astronaut training program. Volunteering for the first manned interstellar mission ever conducted by the U.S. years later, he was launched into space; landing on a planet called Alpha Centauri. And this led to the the 1969 Guardians' formation. Perhaps they're villains?

Marvel Studios has dubbed “Guardians of the Galaxy” a “big space epic” that will introduce various cosmic entities from the Marvel Comics universe. The superhero team first appeared in “Marvel Super-Heroes #18” in 1969, created by Arnold Drake & Gene Colan. In 2008, the team was rebooted by Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning in “Guardians of the Galaxy (vol. 2) #1.” The team's live-action roster will include Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot. And also Thanos, the villain who made his live-action debut unexpectedly during Marvel's The Avengers mid-credits stinger, is expected to reprise his role. With a screenplay drafted by Nicole Perlman, and reworked by Chris McCoy, no director is yet attached. And distributor Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures has scheduled “Guardians of the Galaxy” for release on August 1, 2014.

Cool. Obviously this is really early, so things will change. Personally I was hoping the film would start out with the team already established...

The Guardians are AWESOME, I'm reading their series right now and I;m super stoker for this film. I just don't want them to glaze over Star-Lord's origin.

This needs a Firefly vibe, but with aliens. The treasure is either a Cosmic Cube or a piece of the Infinity Gauntlet. Probably a piece of the gauntlet. I think Thanos will be lurking in all of the next Marvel films getting his gems. They need to have a cliffhanger ending in Avengers 2 with Thanos winning. The team can win in 3.

Considering the fact that Joss Whedon is backing phase 2 from a creative stand point and Marvel overseeing this as they do all of there movies, it's safe to say this will blow everyone away. Star wars meets Firefly meets cosmic avengers meets my body being ready...

So obviously the Fighter pilot is Peter Quill aka Starlord but I'm wondering here, missing pilot, outer space, aliens? To me it sounds like this could possibly expand to Ms. Marvel and Captain Mar'Vell which would be awesome, especially if like Carol Danvers was his wingman
RAWRG
RAWRG - 8/15/2012, 11:53 PM
@AiyalKiIU lame movie concept you do know that it can be changed the movie is in 2014... and with Joss Whedon helping out creatively...

Obviously that pilot is Peter Quill! FOR ODIN'S BEARD! I just cant wait anymore.
By the way, the ex-cons part sound a lot like the plot for Annihilation Conquest: Starlord.

That would be amazing if they did this with Muse doing the soundtrack as a futuristic western in the vein of Knights of Cydonia but still have parts that were a bit more symphonic. Similar to what Daft Punk did with the Tron soundtrack with their own style of electronic music.
