Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden Out Of The Running For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY?

While James Gunn is reportedly the favourite to helm Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel Studios, a new report reveals that other candidates - who would be selected if talks with Gunn don't work out - Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden are no longer in the running.

Following reports yesterday evening that James Gunn (Super) is in late stage talks with Marvel Studios to direct 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, it was also revealed that Peyton Reed (Yes Man) and directing duo Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden (Half Nelson) were being considered by the studio should talks with Gunn not work out. Well, it appears as if we can now cross the latter two off the list as The Playlist reports that their reps have told them their involvement with the big screen adaptation is untrue. This seems odd, especially as the most we get is a "No Comment" in similar circumstances. Perhaps they're trying to save face as they weren't chosen to direct the film? Either way, James Gunn has been a little more forthcoming, teasing fans via his Twitter account, only to later delete those Tweets. Stay tuned! Guardians of the Galaxy will be released on August 1st, 2014.

I've never tried to rip a DVD before. I've tried several times today to download the movie, and it isn't working. I just get into different loops to download stuff that I assume is infecting my computer. I guess I'll wait for Sept. 25.

@ckal - DVD rips always get leaked online at least a month before official high street release. You're behind in the times, The Avengers has been available to download in various DVD rips since yesterday.

@wearethewalkingdead9 - Its not "High Res", its DVD so the maximum you're gonna get in resolution is 720 x 400 although most rippers rip at lower than DVD source to around 640 x 360 or so.

When the Blu Ray rips go up soon they'll be at 1280 x 720 (720p) and 1980 x 1080 (1080p) That's "High Res"!

This site frowns upon promoting downloading and pirating movies. Not sure how long they will allow some of these posts to remain and this thread is about GOTG, not the Avengers.

LMAO If you guys seriously use PirateBay, don't be surprised if you get the men in black waiting on your front porch, Jesus, Piratebay, seriously?! The world's most notorious Government watched site? Wow.

I'm going to wait until Sept 25, and then just shop lift Avengers. You get a better copy and the box stuff as well.

You don't get the street cred of being a big time "pirate" but at least you own up to what you are.

I do use TorrentHound, but not much at all, Firefox browser has a program for free called downloadhelper, any video playing on your screen, it gives you the option to download it and convert it to any format you want. It's safe, LEGAL, and easy as getting into Kristen Stewart's pants.

But anyways, I'm buying the Phase 1 Box Set so... Boom *Drops Microphone*.

Number 1: NO ONE HERE SHOULD be stealing any CBM content from any scum bag sights like Piratebay or any others. It spits in the face all those who worked on the film and it DOES hurt the industry and mean that we all get slightly LOWER BUDGETED (hence, often lower quality) comic book themed films.

So anyway, to any duchess who does illegally download anything: thanks for being a d!ck-head thief and screwing everyone here.

(Oh yeah, and choke on donkey sperm while you're at it!)
:-)

Now, back to why I came to this page in the first place-
I do hope Gunn gets the job. He's been pretty awesome since his days back at Troma (for those who lime that kind of stuff) and yes, he did do the Scooby-Doo films but I challenge anyone here to tell me how they could have made that franchise any better.

And if anyone wants to check out just how funny Gunn can really be, just check out his "PG Porn" show on YouTube.

Oh, and some of you guys are nuts to be downloading from thepiratebay.

I gotta admit, I was shocked when I heard James Gunn and Guardians of the Galaxy mentioned in the same sentence. It is an il-fit. But he is all kinds of awesome and I'm pretty sure he's gonna still deliver a Star Wars-esque masterpiece of pure Dionysian Hollywood. This will not be an indie flick. I'm in.
As for all the "He wrote Scoobu-Doo, so [frick] him" nonsense, how about "He wrote Scooby-Doo, so he's awesome", how about that? That film was always going to be what it was, because that was the target demographic; very young brainless children. But what the script and the casting did was acknowledge the adult audience, who grew up with it and went on to take a hell of a lot of narcotics. James Gunn will always be - to me - the guy who had Scrappy-Doo kicked out of the mystery gang for pissing on Daphne. To this day, I can't believe he did that.

@Pux & Talontd: So by you logic, since I've paid plenty of times for coffee from Starbucks, it's fine if I go in and steal the next one. Sure, they're a huge chain so it all makes thievery okay, right. Or how about I go into any chain store where I've bought DVDs and shoplift the next movie of my choice. I mean, nothing wrong with that, is there? Not like they should call the cops or anything; no...

Rocket Racoon is gonna own. If you don't know that for an absolute fact, then you're a little slow on the uptake.
Then again he is a talking, humanoid animal and I can't think of a single one of them that has become a popular or succesful franchise.
... Can you?

I mean seriously, I do't think the world is quite prepared for the potential phenomenon that the movie version of Rocket Racoon poses.

2earzmundo Duncan Jones would be a boss directing this film. If you havent seen MOON, i implore u to watch it. Greaaaaaaaaaaaat sci fi film. Underrated classic. He's a great up and coming yound director. This film could get him on the a list of directors. The top dogs.

@FoxForce5 Relax. Marvel is going to get all the money they are due. I saw the movie 7 times in theaters, and haven't decided yet which version I will buy, but can't wait for the deleted scenes and other special features. Marvel is going to get a ton of money(maybe two) when the DVD comes out.

On the subject of GOTG, I'm super psyched to see what they do with it. Marvel has done no wrong, and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on picking out talented directors, making a believable talking racoon, and more, until they flub one up.

Yes Marvel made a crap ton of $ this year; doesn't make it right to download.

From someone who used to work in the industry, thank you!

Duncan Jones would have been great as well! Moon is near perfect; extremely glad I got to see it in the theatre! James Gunn will be spectacular with GOTG! He's hilarious and for what Marvel pays, he's a blessing if this comes to be.

I dont know much about GOTG, but Marvecl should just pay the money and get their characters back from FOX. FF is the best family like group Marvel has. They need to stop Fox from using their CBM's.I mean DareDevil, or X-Men 3 anybody, this movies show that Fox doesn't know how to manage a CBM. This is the same people who canceled Family Guy,Futurama, and Sliders.
