UPDATE: Josh Brolin To Lend Voice To THANOS In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
Though there was a relatively unknown actor behind the mad titan's purple prosthetics in his Avengers debut, Thanos will reportedly be played by none other than Josh Brolin in Guardians of the Galaxy.
The folks over at Latino Review have bagged another hot Marvel scoop, and it finally uncovers the big mystery surrounding who exactly will play the big and bad Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy. "Our sources tell us that person is Josh Brolin," reveals the Latino site. Considering the upcoming Marvel space epic is in post-production, Brolin is expected to only provide the voice of the "machiavellian" character as opposed to wearing prosthetics or CG markers. However, given the Oscar-nominated actor's celebrity, and the purple supervillain's 2012 debut in The Avengers (played by Damion Poitier), as well as the fact that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has said many times that his film is definitely connected to The Avengers 3, expect Brolin to actually portray Thanos against Earth's Mightiest Heroes... eventually. That is of course after they take on James Spader in Avengers: Age of Ultron, in which Variety reports Thanos is also expected to make an appearance. Anyhow, Josh Brolin's recent credits include Spike Lee's Oldboy, Gangster Squad, Men in Black 3, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and he also led the flopped DC Comics movie Jonah Hex.
UPDATE: The Wrap has confirmed Latino Review's scoop, and echoed Variety's note that Josh Brolin will also appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron next year. However, despite the many characters already in Joss Whedon's upcoming Avengers sequel, The Wrap adds that Thanos "will have a more prominent role" in that film than he does in Guardians of the Galaxy. What do you think?
