As Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 closes in on a very impressive $142.3M-$146.8M opening weekend at the US box office (the sequel now sits at $427M worldwide), director James Gunn has shared a heartfelt, and very personal thank you to fans on his Facebook page.

Gunn says that although he does "get distracted" by the numbers, that's not the reason he puts so much hard work into making these films, and recalls a lonely childhood that was made much easier by "Marvel comics, science fiction and horror films, the music of The Sex Pistols, The Replacements, and Queen." Gunn concludes by thanking fans for the support, and says he will "continue being here with you over the next three years as we create Vol. 3."

Sweet. So happy he's where he's at now, and can't wait to see the movie.

Sidenote: looks like I woke up at 8 in the morning for nothing. Going to see the movie at 5 now.

Another thing... I think they just might go with "death" in Infinity War rather then making it Hela.
SPOILER

Quill mentions eternity. Literally the embodiment of the universe. Oblivion, Infinity, DEATH.

@XelCorp - Well those four beings were also on the wall in that temple in the beginning of the first film.

Saw it last night.
Loved it. Critics (and wannabe critics) would say it had too much humor or use words like "pitfalls" but I saw complete success. If anything the only fault was not giving the film another 15-20 minutes to help develop some arcs/relationships. I can't wait to see how James Gunn will incorporate Sylvester Stallone's character and crew into the third film.

@tripttwe - I don't think it completely sucked but I didn't like it either, especially compared to the first. 2 completely different movies. The first was traveling across the galaxy as bandits wanted by everyone , thanos had a small part, had infinity stones etc....... vol 2 is about family. Didn't really have a large impact on the marvel universe. It left the opportunity, but no direct impact.

@tripttwe - I think that the guy is really full of himself. Like really, criticizing the deaths? He must have not been paying attention, because then he would know that the people that Yondu killed had ejected all of Yondu's friends out to the vacum of fricking space, and laughed while doing it.

@tripttwe -

This is the same person who tried, with a passion, to prove that Civil War was an extremely overrated movie, and went so far as to delete many, MANY comments in that other video. Comments in which people called him out for his inaccuracies. Including a comment from me.

Plus, I just can't help but take your avatar into at least some consideration...

@tripttwe - Good thing your two cents are only worth two cents. But by the millions of dollars (more than your two cents) it will make, your two cents seems worth even less than two cents.

An "honest" comment (which would have been worth MORE than two cents) would have been something like, "This movie didn't have the elements that I like in films." instead of saying it sucked.

But, with each person I block that has a terrible attitude about films, this group gets even better.

Take care.
