After emerging as one of the standouts of The Suicide Squad, Daniela Melchior (Ratcatcher II) has re-teamed with director James Gunn for what's described as a "small role" in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
The Marvel Studios threequel actually wrapped production earlier this year, but Deadline has only now confirmed the up-and-coming Portuguese actress' involvement.
We have no idea who she'll play, but the trade does mention that it won't be Moondragon! The report also stresses that Melchior is not the “unannounced actor” Gunn recently teased with a series of photos from the wrap-party.
Whoever she's playing, It doesn't sound like she'll have a substantial part in Vol. 3, but that doesn't mean her character won't return for another MCU adventure down the line.
GOTG Vol. 3 story details are still a closely guarded secret, but a few nuggets have been revealed over the past year or so. We do know that Gamora (Zoe Saldana) will be a big part of the movie, and a report from last year indicated that her relationship with Nebula (Karen Gillan) is going to be the main focus. Of course, this Gamora is a Variant of the original who doesn't know any of her teammates, so we can probably expect a very different dynamic between the "sisters" this time.
Saldana and Gillan will be joined by the returning Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Sean Gunn (Rocket/Kraglin), and Sylvester Stallone as Stakar Ogord/Starhawk, with Will Poulter on board as Adam Warlock.
