Marvel Studios has released a new trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and just like the teaser, it promises an emotional, epic farewell to this iteration of the team.

It's no secret that not everyone is making it out of this adventure alive (Dave Bautista has said on multiple occasions that his time in the MCU is over), and with James Gunn jumping ship to DC Studios, this will be the last time he's at the helm of anything Guardians-related for at least the next several years.

We'll be dropping a full breakdown of the footage tomorrow, but The High Evolutionary's plan is now a little clearer, as is the sheer power of one Adam Warlock. There's more Baby Rocket, Gamora's long-waited return, and the sort of gorgeous visuals only this franchise can deliver.

There's also an updated synopsis that reads, "In Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past."

"Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them."

Check out the stunning new trailer and poster below!

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

Gunn writes and directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova.

Kevin Feige is the producer and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt, and Sara Smith serve as executive producers.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives in theaters on May 5, 2023.

Rainbow! Always loved that song. Didn’t really like how they kept chopping it up in the trailer but I still see it having a boom on iTunes.

@Stinkor1 - Since you're also a Rainbow fan, i was looking to see who wrote this song and it was actually Russ Ballard of Argent. Rainbow covered it. Here is the original.

@GeneralZod - Fascinating. I'm a big Rainbow fan as well, and really like that song, but didn't know it was originally performed by Russ Ballard. I had noticed that he wrote it, but didn't know there was a previous version released. I guess that's true for a lot of Russ Ballard written songs.

and from one send-off to another. I already can tell I'm not gonna come out from this with my eyes dry.
it's really, really a shame this is Gunn's last Marvel joint, probably the best pure filmmaker they had in their ranks, but at the very least he got to decide how his characters go out. godspeed to these beautiful a**holes.
