GOTG VOL. 3 Star Zoe Saldana Returns As Gamora For New Behind-The-Scenes Photo

Filming on James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 officially got underway last month, and star Zoe Saldana has now shared a first behind-the-scenes look at her return as Gamora.

The actress posted several photos to Instagram, and one of the selfies is a close-up of herself in full make-up as the deadliest woman in the galaxy.

While specific story details are still under wraps, we do know that Gamora will be a big part of the movie, and a recent report indicated that her relationship with Nebula is going to be the main focus. The original Gamora was sacrificed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, so it's probably safe to assume we can expect a unique dynamic between this alternate reality version of the character and her sister we reconnect with them in what has been confirmed as Gunn's final GOTG film.

Saldana will be joined by the returning Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Sean Gunn (Rocket/Kraglin), Sylvester Stallone as Stakar Ogord/Starhawk, and Karen Gillan (Nebula), with Will Poulter on board as Adam Warlock and Peacemaker actor Chukwudi Iwuji in an undisclosed role.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to hit theaters on May 23, 2023.

Dollars to donuts, she's gonna kiss Quill by the end of this movie.

That movie’s gonna break a billion. In fact since Spider-Man, we’re back to sequels of popular characters, not establishing new ones, sooo yeah, a few more billions lined up almost back to back

@TheWalkingCuban - I kind of doubt a billion. The Gamora/Quill dynamic is borked for one thing and there is little point going back to it since this looks to be the end of the line. That said $700-$800M seems achievable depending on the competition, release date, quality, and Covid. YMMV.

@JDL - that’s fair

Not really sure why, but I’m kind of worried about this one.

Maybe because I hated The Suicide Squad.

@BringFFtoMCU - Think of it this way. If you didn't like The Suicide Squad, then be glad that he's gotten it out of his system.

@BringFFtoMCU - ya bad taste can be a true plague. You’re in the minority on that one cuz critics ate that shit UP.

@RegularPoochie - thee best IMO based on third act and characterization alone

Curious to see what Variant Gamora has been up to since Endgame. Maybe she will have a connection with Adam Warlock.

@NinnesMBC - It will be awkward if that’s her boyfriend now and she doesn’t remember old dude at all other than breaking his balls

@NinnesMBC - Yes, and Thanos sends her to ally with Warlock against the Magus. Which should have happened ages ago, and at least a good 10 years before we got to Infinity Gauntlet.
I would like to see her portrayed as Starlin's deadly ballerina, leaving behind a trail of corpses. Not just A.N. Other space mercenary clumping around like she just fell out of Star Wars. So boring.

It's weird to think that we're going to see her as a blue alien again before we'll see her as the green one.

@generictheeric - was just thinking it is still wild how she starred in the two biggest movies ever as two differently colored aliens. Wonder if there will be a third (Star Wars maybe?)

Props to her for going through the make up for 4 films now.

And for her gaining more recognition. I remember first seeing her in Curse of the Black Pearl and having wondered where she went in Dead Man's Chest.

If anything ever would make me want to retread Pirates of the Caribbean, it would be her returning. Apparently though it was issues with the studio that lead her to almost quit acting back then.

After TSS, although it’s PG13 I can’t see Feige trying to weigh down Gunn closing out his trilogy, so I expect his creative stamp to especially be all over this one. I thought the first GotG was paint by number MCU. I mean it’s a copy and paste plot of Whedons first Avengers film, literally. And the third act was terrible. The second one was just goofy as [frick] but I’ve watched it on mushrooms a couple different times and I’ve fallen in love with what it is despite Quill being superhero still being painfully stupid. TSS was so great that I can’t help but be excited to see what Gunn does next.
