GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 Director James Gunn Confirms That The Marvel Threequel Will Film This Year

Amid rumors of production delays, director James Gunn has taken to Twitter to confirm that he is indeed planning to shoot the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie at some point this year...

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused major problems for the film industry, resulting in multiple release date and production delays. However, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 still appears to be on track despite rumors to the contrary.

James Gunn is still busy working on The Suicide Squad and HBO Max's Peacemaker spinoff, but it looks like he is planning to tackle the third GOTG movie at some point this year.

Here's Gunn's Tweet to a fan who asked if production on the Marvel threequel would get underway in 2021.

It's not exactly an in-depth response, but it does tell us all we need to know: Barring any unforeseen problems, cameras will role on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 before the year is out.

Gunn is usually happy to drop teases and reveals about his films on social media, but he's kept relatively quiet about his plans for this next outing for Star-Lord and his team of intergalactic A-holes. All we know for sure is that the main cast are all set to return, and although Gamora was killed off in Avengers: Infinity War, the character is expected to play a major role in the plot. This obviously suggests that the alternate timeline version of Gamora who was introduced in Endgame will end up joining the crew.

We might also see the return of Sylvester Stallone's Stakar Ogord/Starhawk, Michael Rosenbaum's Martinex and the rest of the original Guardians, but that's yet to be confirmed.

@MrCamw1 -

I don't read a lot of horror but two Mild Horror books I read are My Best Friends Exorcism and We Sold Our Souls by Grady Hendrix.

Definitely excited for the next installment, but I wonder who else they'll bring in.

Hoping for the return of Sylvester Stallone and Michelle Yeoh

@BlackBeltJones -

Awesome movie, even those Gifs are great.

I do sometimes miss going to the Video store and picking out a Martial Arts movie because it had a cool cover or it starred someone I had previously seen.

Then watching it and having an awesome time

Yeah Cynthia was great in her movies, watched some of her interviews on youtube recently, and she's very charming and chatty.

Glad to see Michelle on screen a lot at the moment.

Both still look great

After GOTG 3, I hope James Gunn continues in the MCU. Maybe directing a Disney + Darkhawk show.

@Repian - Speaking of hawks, I wish there will be a revival of Silverhawks. I don't care if it's live-action or animation. But please no CalArts style. Also love Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future and Starfleet puppet animation to come back as well.

@Repian - lmao! You sir, are easily pleased. Darkhawk is awful in every way. Nothing about the character is interesting. You probably would like a live action Go-Bots movie too huh?

@Repian - I mean for Pete's sake, the name Darkhawk alone. SHEESH! Just look at the font in that picture. It's all pathetic.

Guessing that's for the Holiday Special then. Because normally a movie is released about a year after it starts shooting, and I don't see Marvel adding another movie to an already packed schedule
