SHE-RA Live-Action Series From DreamWorks In Early Development At Amazon

She-Ra is set to make her live-action debut in a new Amazon series, which is currently in the early stages of development. The show won't have anything to do with Netflix's recent Princesses of Power.

It looks like She-Ra might just beat her muscle-bound twin brother to a live-action reboot.

While the planned Masters of the Universe movie has now stalled, Variety reports that a live-action She-Ra series is in early development at Amazon. DreamWorks, who worked on the recent Netflix animated series, will executive produce, but this is expected to be a standalone story with no connections to The Princesses of Power. A writer has yet to be enlisted.

She-Ra debuted in 1985's He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword before going on to feature in her own animated spinoff, She-Ra: Princess of Power. The character was revived for the acclaimed She-Ra and the Princesses of Power Netflix series, which recently aired its fifth and final season.

The trade doesn't seem to know a whole lot about this live-action project, but both animated shows followed Adora as she struggled with embracing her destiny as the protector of Etheria. There were significant differences, however, as the Netflix series removed any connection to He-Man and made the young warrior a Horde soldier who comes to realize that she's fighting for the bad guys.

What do you guys make of this news? Which actresses would you like to see play She-Ra and her allies/enemies? Drop us a comment down below, and keep an eye out for updates.

Tried the recent animated version couldn't get into it.

All the false advertising turned me off to the new Masters of the universe (A Teela focused show is fine but they went out of their way to advertise it as a he man show), has a lot of actors I like though.

Really only version of this franchise I really got into was

Wonder if this will be based on the original version, or if it will take inspiration from the new netflix version. Haven't actually ever watched either, a lot of memes came out of the netflix show a couple of years back, so I take it people watched it.

Ummmmm....they weren't cousins, they are twins and He-Man hit live action back in the 80s. Try this article again dude.

@TheShape9859 - Eh, yeah, thanks... no excuse there really. I'm just tired!

@TheShape9859 - “There were significant differences, however, as the Netflix series…made the young warrior a Horde soldier who comes to realize that she's fighting for the bad guys.” Sounds kind of like the plot of 80’s cartoon and not a “significant difference”.

@TheUnworthyThor - I didn't watch that shit. Don't know the first thing about it...

@TheShape9859 - And you took exception to them being called cousins?
TheShape9859
TheShape9859 - 9/13/2021, 11:17 AM
@TheUnworthyThor - because they aren't cousins...

@TheShape9859 - I know but why care to even bother to point it out if you thought the 80’s cartoon was shit?
TheShape9859

@TheUnworthyThor - you completely misunderstood. I didn't watch the NETFLIX SHIT....I lived on the 80s He-Man and She-Ra

@TheShape9859 - Then you completely misunderstood (oddly so) because I was talking about the 80’s cartoon. I even used the words 80’s cartoon.

@TheUnworthyThor - you said, "however, as the Netflix series…made the young warrior a Horde soldier who comes to realize that she's fighting for the bad guys.”...I never watched the Netflix Shit-Ra series. No thanks to that.

@TheShape9859 - Those are quotation marks, I was quoting this article.

@TheUnworthyThor - and I replied I never watched the Netflix show so I don't know anything about it. It looked like crap and I'm clearly not in the demographic it was aiming for so I skipped it.

@TheShape9859 - I don’t know what the confusion is here. You don’t need to have watched the Netflix show, I don’t need to have watched the Netflix show, the writer of the article stated the plot of the Netflix show as “a Horde soldier who comes to realize that she's fighting for the bad guys” which he refers to as a significant difference but that’s the same plot of the 80’s cartoon.

Well a) awesome I look forward to anything and everything in the world of He-Man, She-Ra, and the Masters of the Universe. And live action She-Ra is like a dream come true and b) Amazon? Some of these franchises are all over the place. I like knowing exactly where Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, and the like will show up. But I think I generally like the stuff Amazon makes more than Netflix so I’m totally 100% on board.

I feel like I've waited too long for the Live action versions of my childhood shows, Thundercats and He-Man.
Wouldn't be sad with She-Ra though.

I did enjoy the Adventures Of He-Mans Friend Teela on Netflix, but I can understand why people were annoyed at it
