Hellboy is crossing over into another new territory, animation. There are already two feature length films featuring Hellboy and the gang out on the market. The most exciting thing about this however is that most of the actors from the live action movies are reprising their roles in the animation.

Ron Pearlman as Hellboy, Selma Blair as Liz, Doug Jones as Abe and John Hurt as Professor Bloom make up the main cast with two other amazing talents voicing other B.P.R.D agents; Peri Gilpin as Kate Corrigan and Rob Paulson as Sidney Leach.

The first is entitle The Sword of Storms. It featurs Hellboy battling some ancient Japanese weather demons.

The second is entitles Blood and Iron and features Hellboy and other top B.P.R.D. agents doing battle with typical creatures of the night and eventually the Queen of the Witches, Hecate herself.

I dont want to give too much away regarding the plot because they are both excellent movies that I highly suggest any fan should watch. It is also the first glimpse into what the Animated Series will look and feel like.

I dont know about anyone else but I am beyond excited for the prospect of a weekly dose of Hellboy.

Has anyone seen these animated movies? Worth a purchase?

Yeah, they're both really good additions to anyone's Hellboy collection, personally though I like Sword of Storms better. They both have really good stories but I feel the storytelling style of Sword of storms is much truer to mignola's style and it includes much more mythology than Blood and Iron.

I honestly was bored to sin with Swords of Storms. Blood and Iron was fantastic though!

I will have to punish myself severely for my poor grammar, what a fool I have been.
In response to some comments, yes these two movies have been out for quite some time but I havent really heard much about them personally and I wanted to spread the word.
Whether they are worth the purchase, very much so if your a fan. The voice actors are pretty much everyone from the movie plus 'Ross' from Fraiser is just too great for words.
I actually have not yet watched Blood and Iron but am looking forward to it.
The movies are only the first steps though, the animated series is the most exciting part of the news.

I think I remember reading some where that the series was canceled due to poor sales on the dvds. I might be wrong though.
