Well, guys. Only 13 more days until Halloween. Between now and Halloween, I'll post something releated to the holiday itself. Today, is the five worst horror remakes in history. Keep in mind this is opinion based. I'll put the posters and why I thought they were so bad and I'll include two future remakes that would've ended up on this list should they have already been released. Let's get started.
Number 5. Godzilla (1998)

Why this was so bad: I'm aware it's not a horror movie, but monsters are Halloween releated, so this would count. The reason this was bad is because it literally has nothing to do with the original Godzilla. His background is changed, no fire, and the plot is cliche at best. Is it a good movie, yes. I did enjoy it as a monster movie on it's own. As a remake, it stinks worse then the sewers Zilla crawled out of. In fact, Toho hated this so much, they decided to continue their own franchise with Godzilla 2000 and renamed the creature Zilla. It's so low on the list because I'd rather watch this as oppose to the others on the list.
Number 4. King Kong (1976)
Why this was so bad: Same as Godzilla 1998. While it didn't stray too much from the original King Kong, it ended up having a very campy approach to it and the characters were very idiotic. Kong himself didn't look too bad, but the finale in the city is what had fans angered. He climbed to the World Trade Center instead of the Empire State building. On the island, his fight with T Rex was replaced with a giant snake. Overall, it's not a bad film, but it could've been better as a remake.
Number 3. Friday the 13th (2009)
Why this was so bad: I'm going to get hate for this one, but this is my opinion. I wasn't too sold on the fact that they combined the first few films into one. This made a sequel impossible because they basically told most of Jason's story into one. They could continue it, but there wouldn't be much point. Plus, the teens were cliche as heck. I did like Derek Mears portrayl of Jason, and that in my mind was the only good thing about it. If they had just stuck to the original with Mrs. Voorhees as the killer, then I'd consider it a good remake, because it would be the original done in a more modern way. But they decided to skip that and tell more of Jason.
Number 2. Psycho (1998)
Why this was so bad: I'm aware I have two remakes that came out in the same year on this list. What was good about this would be a better question. It was a complete shot for shot remake and had little to no original material in it. Plus, Vince Vaughn as Norman Bates? Give me a break. Casting a comedian in a horror film will keep the audiance from taking it seriously. Only two new scences were added, but it was still terrible. I guess this is one we all can agree on.
Number 1. Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
Why this was so bad: Were to begin? First off, it turned the strong minded characters from the original into Twilight rejects, personality wise. Freddy's backstory is changed to what Wes Craven had in mind originally. We know why he didn't go through with it. It made Freddy far less of a menece and really didn't make him scary. Plus, his make up looked awful. One good thing was the dreams were not too bad, and Jackie Earl Hailey was a good choice for Freddy. In fact, I liked him in the role. Overall, this is in my opinion the worst remake as of now. But there may be a remake that will beat it out.
Like I said, I would include remakes that are still in production as of now.
1st. Leprechaun (2014)
I don't think I need to say much about this one. You can tell by this picture it's going to be bad. The only reason they chose Honswoggle for the role is because his nickname was Leprechaun. Since WWE is going to help in this, odds are it'll be PG-13 and won't be scary in the least. I'll pass on this one.
2nd: Evil Dead (2013)
I put this on here for one reason only: No Ash. It's okay to not have Bruce Campbell not play him since he's getting a bit too old for the role. I think Nicholas Brendon would've been a good replacement due to his role on Buffy and he's nearly identical to Bruce Campbell. But no, they decided to gender swap the characters. If this were a sequel, I wouldn't mind, since they'd explain Ash's deeds in the past as a hero. But what's the point of a remake if you're not going to use the main character from the original? This will proabably be worse then Elm Street, but we'll see.
Well, that's the first day of Halloween. Tomorrow, I'll do the best remakes. And yes, monster movies will be included.
