GAME OF THRONES Actor Jacob Anderson To Play Louis In AMC's INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE

Game of Thrones alum Jacob Anderson, who played Grey Worm in the HBO series, is set to take the lead role of Louis de Pointe du Lac in AMC's upcoming adaptation of Anne Rice's Interview With The Vampire.

AMC's upcoming small-screen adaptation of Anne Rice's first Vampire Chronicles novel, Interview with The Vampire, has found its lead, with Game of Thrones actor Jacob Anderson signing on to play the titular blood-sucker, Louis.

In the book, Louis De Pointe Du Lac was a plantation owner who lost the will to live before being given the "dark gift" by a vampire known as Lestat (Sam Reid). Variety's report doesn't shed any light on how this take on Louis will be depicted, but a recent character breakdown did suggest that the show will be taking a few liberties with the classic tale.

Louis is described as a former brothel owner looking for the chance to tell his "true tale." He's said to be “Creole, with eyes of brilliant green. His skin is smooth, as if sculpted from Ceylon ebony.” Daniel Malloy, meanwhile, will be "an award-winning investigative journalist who takes this second chance to report one of the most significant stories of his career. Daniel travels to the other side of the world to interview the 146-year-old vampire, Louis De Pointe Du Lac."

The show was given an eight episode order with an eye toward a 2022 debut. Rolin Jones is on board as writer, executive producer, and showrunner, while Mark Johnson will executive produce along with Anne Rice and Christopher Rice. Alan Taylor will direct the first two episodes.

Neil Jordan helmed the 1994 feature adaptation of Interview With The Vampire, which starred Brad Pitt as Louis, Tom Cruise as Lestat, and Christian Slater as Malloy.

I haven't seen the Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise movie nor do I know the book, but I don't see how this could be really interesting for 8 hours.

Ofcourse the things he experienced are probably some time apart and thus very episodic, but I do wonder if there will be an overarching story.

Louis, Louis, Louis…will you still be whining, Louis?

I will say this…while not all of IWAV is my favorite…

The final scene…before movies had Post Credits…is one of my favorite final scenes of a movie ever.

It really gives the film an incredible rewatch ability factor.

Unless they completely change his backstory the casting doesn't make sense. I usually dont care about race swapping to much because it doesnt change the character beyond the psychical appearance, but Louis was literally a plantation owner who owned slaves he kinda needs to be white?

@CurlyBill - It says he owns a brothel now instead.

Being a plantation owner digs at the heart of Louis, so taking that away is kind of a weird decision.

Also, if you say Ceylon ebony, give us that. This dude is closer to Albizia.

I felt so sorry for his character on Game of Thrones.

I'd hate to say this, but are his slaves going to be white? Or is he one of them?

@Keenstott - does it matter? In the history of men black people had black slaves, and white people had white people as slave. Take your head out from your ass.

As a massive fan of the book, I’m not super happy with this change but I’m will to hold out judgement until we see something. If they can make this work then I’m onboard.

Big fan of the books. Daniel was my favourite character. He is the character that represents the audience in a lot of parts, and I'm so pissed that he's now an old man, completely unrelatable.
