ANT-MAN AND THE WASP's Judy Greer In Talks To Join The Cast Of HALLOWEEN As Laurie Strode's Daughter

Even though there's only a 16 year age difference between the actresses, Judy Greer is in negotiations to star in the upcoming Halloween relaunch as the daughter of Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode...

We recently found out that Jamie Lee Curtis would reprise the role of Laurie Strode for David Gordon Green and Danny McBride’s Halloween relaunch, and now Deadline reports that Judy Greer (Ant-Man and The Wasp, Where’d You Go Bernadette) is in talks to play Laurie's daughter and Michael Myers' niece, Karen.

No other details about the character were provided, but there's a decent chance Greer could take over as the heroine of the franchise if it does indeed continue after this new instalment.

Josh Hartnett actually played Laurie Strode's son in the underrated Halloween: H20 back in 1998, but it's looking more and more likely that the events of all of the sequels that followed John Carpenters original are being dismissed.

What do you guys think of this news? Do you buy Greer as Lee Curtis' daughter? Sound off below.

Josh Hartnett!?!?! What about Danielle Harris, Jamie Lloyd the original daughter of Laurie Strode?!?!? Who's character had a baby 1994 and would be leading lady age today.

@CMgeek - Well H20 already retconned all of that stuff, so I guess this new one will retcon the retcon.

@RorMachine - was Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers a retcon? So will this be a retcon of the retcon of retcon?

Oy, this series drops storylines more then any other in history. Kind of annoying. We'll see. Carpenter is back and it looks like a good crew is behind and in front of the camera so we'll see.

The only surviving franchise left (that hasn't been remade) is Child's Play. I'll be watching Cult of Chucky tonight.

the character of Doctor Loomis would be in his 90s so they will probably just say he died in the Hospital Explosion.

H20 will always have a place in my heart mostly because it just felt ingrained in the 90's, but I feel like they can benefit from continuing from the original.

Halloween 4 was actually a continuation of the original Halloween storyline, but in that storyline Laurie Strode was reportedly dead and her daughter Jamie Lloyd (played by Danielle Harris) was being raised by friends of the family.

Halloween H20 is not really the retcon because Laurie Strode was not dead and had been living with a husband in California and had a son (played by Josh Harnett). HOWEVER....In the opening montage they do show a newspaper clipping that reported that Laurie Strode was killed in an auto accident, yet the photo used in the article is of a much younger Laurie and appeared too young to have a daughter.

Now, the newspaper could have used an older photo of her because the accident was faked and they didn't want a more recent photo of Laurie Strode out there to prevent Michael Myers to know what she currently looked like. Either way, in the article clip not enough was revealed to show if she left behind a daughter, and it probably wouldn't anyway if they were working to keep her identify a secret.

So they KIND of worked in the automobile accident mentioned in Halloween 4 into H20, and it stands to reason that her daughter (Danielle Harris) still could exist, but then Myers finds out where Laurie Strode actually is and goes to California to find her.

One of the last things they show in the opening montage is a photo of a pair of blood scissors that Jamie (Danielle Harris) used to kill her adoptive mother Darlene at the end fo the movie.

But at the end of Halloween 5: The Curse of Michael Myers Jamie survives ....so she is still alive and apparently Halloween's 4 and 5 are somewhat canon in the Halloween timeline.

And Halloween: Resurrection follows H20 in the same timeline because apparently Michael Myers switched clothing with an ambulance worker at the end of H20 and crushed his larynx so he couldn't speak and Laurie Strode cut the head off of who she thought was Michael but it was really the ambulance worker.

Resurrection joins Laurie in the nuthouse and apparently Michael is brought in so she goes to confront him to kill him and wants to take off his mask first to make sure, but Michael gets the upper hand and stabs Laurie in the back sending her off the roof killing her once and for all.

So unless they are going to say that Laurie survived the stabbing and the fall off the roof from Resurrection.....then this is going to absolutely be a retcon and you can't have Danielle Harris or Josh Hartnett back to reprise the roles of her children.

@411IDSigo - Well said. Thank you for all that info. It'll be interesting to see where McBride and David Gordon Green take this film. I consider myself a Halloween fan but I've only see the first one and H20.

How would you rank all of them?

@L0RDbuckethead - Thank you.

My ranking so far... (and I don't count the Rob Zombie movies at all)

Halloween (1978)
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers
Halloween H20 (barely third place)
Halloween 2
Halloween 3 (not a bad movie, but not a legitimate Halloween movie since Michael is not in it)
Halloween 5 (pretty much garbage)
Halloween Resurrection (that was tripe)
