Comic book artist, Guy Davis ("Hellboy"), has started to branch out, creating concept art for featured films, like Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim. The artwork below, that was posted on Legendary's facebook page, focuses mainly on his early designs for the large inter-dimensional monsters, known as kaijus.

Concept Art by Guy Davis

PACIFIC RIM SYNOPSIS - When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Pacific Rim was directed by Guillermo del Toro, from a script written by Travis Beacham. The cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff, and Brad William Henke. Well that'd be your opinion wouldn't it? Obviously if I gave them a good review it means I liked them, and I explained why I did in those reviews..just like I did for Pacific Rim. ..which was crap:)

I liked this movie a lot. If they do a sequel, I would like to see them go a darker route. But as a stand-alone movie, it's really enjoyable.

Guy Davis is an awesome artist and the monsters in this movie were the only good thing about it.

Sorry for sounding like a broken record here.
Those pic's are awesome (both robot and monster), but it wouldn't have mattered the way this movie went.

The robots played 2nd to the human interest story lines, and the monsters were all in the rainy dark of night, so basically you couldn't see much.

If there is a sequel, and also for the new Godzilla film, I hope they take a clue from the old Godzilla movies. Yeah, the monster was a guy in a suit, but the action and fight scenes were in broad daylight = FUN !

I truly love the Kaiju designs; they're fairly simplistic in features, and do not deal with complicated textures, yet look very natural and simply great, overall. Just if they hadn't revised the movie's script...
