Resident Evil returned to the big screen this week with Sony Pictures' Welcome To Raccoon City, but Netflix has been developing a serialized take on the classic horror video game, and the first footage has now found its way online.

It's very brief, but the video reveals one of the game's original monsters, the Zombie Dog/Cerebus, along with the show's official logo.

The streamer announced the full cast of Resident Evil during the recent "Geeked Week," with Lance Reddick (John Wick, The Wire, Godzilla Vs. Kong for about 2 seconds) set to play the villainous Albert Wesker, who was introduced in the very first game before going on to become one of the franchise primary antagonists.

He'll be joined by Ella Balinska (Charlie's Angels), Tamara Smart (Artemis Fowl), Siena Agudong (No Good Nick), Adeline Rudolph (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), and Paola Núñez (The Purge) in undisclosed roles.

Check out the teaser below along with the full synopsis.

The Netflix series will tell its new story across two timelines. In the first, 14-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it seems and their father may be concealing dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world.
The second, more than a decade into the future sees less than 15 million people left on Earth. And more than 6 billion monsters — people and animals infected with the T-virus. Jade, now 30, struggles to survive in this new world, while the secrets from her past — about her sister, her father and herself — continue to haunt her.

Supernatural showrunner Andrew Dabb has been enlisted to oversee the first season, which will run for 8 episodes.

"Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time," Dabb said back when the series was first announced. "I'm incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this amazing story and bring the first-ever Resident Evil series to Netflix members around the world. For every type of Resident Evil fan, including those joining us for the first time, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends, and some things (bloodthirsty, insane things) people have never seen before."

No premiere date has been announced.

So it seems a resident evil movie failed in the exact opposite way the previous one did.

At least Village was good, right? Hopefully that rumored RE4 remake is a masterpiece.

How do they continuously keep making poor decisions with this franchise?!?

It's not that hard to make a good zombie movie with evil corporations and bio-terrorism weaved throughout the plot. The characters are all there and the story starts off as fairly straightforward. All you need is a competent cameraman, a decent costume designer and FX crew and BAM!, you've got a movie or show with millions of dedicated fans just hungry for more RE content.

Oh, and actually invest in some talented actors for once.

How they screw up these movies over and over is beyond me.

Such an easy property to transfer to the screen.

That premise is absolute shit.

Here's an idea. The video games' stories, while wildly popular, only reach a small section of the populace. Guaranteed if you make a good, faithful adaptation, fans will flock and those of us that didn't play them would love to see the stories done right.

Same goes for any VG movie adaptations.

I don't mind the plot as much as others, but I do wonder what is gonna make this "Resident Evil" aside from a few names. If done well though, I think the dual storyline can work to its advantage (as much as it also could work against its disadvantage though)
