SHADOWMAN Movie Moves Closer To The Big Screen As MARSHALL Helmer Reginald Hudlin Signs On To Direct
Valiant's mission to develop its comic book properties for the big screen comes closer to fruition, as Reginald Hudlin has signed on to helm an adaptation of supernatural adventure, Shadowman...
THR reports that Valiant Entertainment has appointed a new creative team to develop an adaptation of Jim Shooter and Steve Englehart supernatural comic series, Shadowman.
It seems Salem showrunner Adam Simon has been hired to rewrite a screenplay by J. Michael Straczynski, while Reginald Hudlin (Marshall, The Great White Hype, Boomerang) is attached to direct. Hudlin has also written comics himself, including Marvel's Black Panther.
Though Shadowman will be developed in-house before being shopped to studios, Valiant also has a five-picture deal with Sony to develop its Harbinger and Bloodshot characters, while Archer & Armstrong is being brought to life by Terry Rossio and Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer.
Just in case you're not familiar with Shadowman, here's a synopsis:
Shadowman is a supernatural concept based around an African-American musician in New Orleans who becomes infected by a spirit that allows him otherworldly abilities. As the latest incarnation of the titular Shadowman, a mystical defender of Earth against demonic invasion, he has to protect against threats from Master Darque and other denizens of the netherworld known as the Deadside.
