True Blood's seventh and final season finished up just six years ago, but the show's home network is already planning a reboot.
THR reports that HBO is in the early stages of development on a new version of the mega-hit fantasy horror series, with Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa on board to write and direct the pilot. The original show's creator Alan Ball will also be involved as an executive producer.
True Blood was based on the Southern Vampire Mysteries novels by Charlaine Harris, and was set in a world where the development of a synthetic blood allowed vamps to announce their presence to mankind. The story mainly took place in the town of Bon Temps, Louisiana, and starred Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Sam Trammell, Rutina Wesley, Ryan Kwanten, Nelsan Ellis, Chris Bauer, Carrie Preston, Alexander Skarsgard, Joe Manganiello and Kristin Bauer van Straten.
No word on the story or characters this new take on the material will focus on, but there's a chance it won't be a full reboot, and could serve as more of a follow-up to the original series.
