We've been coming up with an angle that is really strong. I am a fan of Peter David, Pak and Loeb but I like very much what individual writers and artists have done through the decades. I only gravitate to "monster" superheroes- (Blade, Hellboy, Deadman, Hulk-) because I have no interest on the straight ones -even when I've been offered the keys to the kingdom. - Guillermo del Toro

Always nice a big time director like Gullermo reaching out to the fans. Hopefully in the future he'll drop in again and deliver some more information on the show.

I'm looking forward to how they'll handle the Hulk. Will he be a large actor? Would they use camera tricks like Lord of the Rings to make one actor appear much large than another. Or will they go pure CG? Or will they go with a blend of CG and animatronics?

Hmmm, what about the hulk in the upcoming avengers movie - will it be the same hulk or something new?

They need to use CGI. With the Avengers and The Incredible Hulk and actor playing hulk wont fly. Motion cap suit fill in after

@Guillermo del Toro: "I only gravitate to "monster" superheroes"

That means: I'm not going to do Doctor Strange?

Very interested in his take on this, and I'm open to anything fresh with the Hulk in particular.

MissMystique: they said it would be yet another Hulk, not relating to the previous movies. Something like the 70´s show.

At first I was thinking "Marvel Television"? As in like Marvel TV?

As if Marvel would have their own TV channel... but that would be interesting.

Anyway, a CGI Hulk sounds a little too expensive for TV.

How about Dr.Strange, Guillermo? Plenty of monsters there.

Ohhh, God I hope thats true. I just love the old tv series. Cant stop thinking about the beautiful song as intro to that show.

So if they will make the hulk as real as possible = EPIC

I don´t know.. I don´t like the idea about a Hulk TV series... Why they don´t let Hulk just with movies? I think characters like Cloak and Luck Cage is a lot better to things like that.

sorry about the bad english...

IS he giving a hint to what he got offered or not offered with Disney? He says: I've been offered the keys to the kingdom. Does that mean he has already been offered an upcoming Marvel movie? And with only being monsters I could see it being a new Hulk movie.

I've heard blending animatronics with CGI can be tricky, but that sounds like the way Del Toro would go. In Where the Wild Things Are, there creatures faces were entirely CGI, and it looked pretty good

Del Toro is an artist. His medium is film. He make art on it. This guy's no film school grad hack. He's a genuine talent. I like this guy ...alot.

Perhaps they should make it in the "Beowulf" way.

What Del Toro will do won't be close to The Hulk per se. But it will be amazing. Be patient, he knows his stuff.

I am so happy to here that from a guy like Guillermo Del Toro about how to create "The Hulk".

I quote.
"I'm looking forward to how they'll handle the Hulk. Will he be a large actor? Would they use camera tricks like Lord of the Rings to make one actor appear much large than another. Or will they go pure CG? Or will they go with a blend of CG and animatronics?"

Mr Guillermo Del Toro. If you can here me. I would like to have a total different Hulk in the TV series. The best way to do Hulk is with the tricks done in "Lord of the Ring" like you just said. An other example is the monster in "300".

CG Is not working for Hulk. It s too unreal! Cg needs perfections in terms of animation.

RexDartEskimoSpy - 9/21/2011, 9:04 PM
Like 300 but not CG? Does not compute. 300 was practically a Pixar movie. Actually, no. Pixar movies look waaay more realistic than 300.

A live-action Hulk would certainly be more cost-effective, but I dunno. I like the Hulk to be impossibly huge. A big, green guy doesn't really cut it.

Anyways, I don't care how he does it - I trust Guillermo implicitly. Just keep Jeph Loeb the f*ck away...

i just hope marvel does continue from The Incredible Hulk movie in 2008. Guillermo Del Toro already said his take on Hulk is not related to the same universe as the Marvel Studio movies, but it would be awesome if they somehow made it part of the same universe!

The Lord of the Rings perspective trick was very difficult for them to pull off and time consuming. I don't believe they could do it with the short amount of time they have to shoot between episodes. Listen to the commentary on Lord of the Rings or watch one of the documentaries on the making of the Lord of the Rings and you will see just how impossible it would be to do for a regular tv series that shoots around 22 episodes per season. Now, if it were a mini-series.....

@mstaley3000

Dont forget Del Toro was working on the Hobbit for a few years, i'm sure he learnt a trick or two from Peter Jackson and the team regarding the camera angles to make characters look bigger than others.

With a TV series, a prosthetic hulk *could* work, the same way Hellboy was done. All they need to do is keep the real stuff as stylized as possible (all the Hellboy characters had a slight exaggerated - even sometimes goofy - look to them) which should help in cutting the cost of CG. Not that prosthetics are cheap.

The Hulk series would work best if it were done Game of Thrones style, not more than 10 episodes a season ;p

A skinny guy & a Green bodybuilder is the way to go! Just like the other show from the 80's. Fx for tv shows are a million times better now! I loved Heroes cause the story was good & the Fx weren't cheesy they looked really good. So take a bodybuilder bake him green use Fx to make him look 8 feet tall & get great actors to play Bruce, Betty, & Gen. Ross! If they can make us feel for Bruce & hate Gen. Ross you've got a winner & Del Toro will do that!

Nathan Jones

I just saw the Super bowl add and I am still disapointed about the new CG Hulk. Nathan Jones as Hulk is ok with me as long as he doesn't speak.

I Can't wait to see Avengers but on the other end I would like a different Hulk.LOTR or 300 FX would be a nice come back and a tribute to the hold 70's Hulk series.
