According to The Hollywood Reporter, Iron Man 3 looks set to bring in an incredible $60 million at the North American box office today. As of right now, the Shane Black helmed threequel is on track for a weekend of $150 million or more after taking over $345 million overseas. This means that the movie will have more than likely grossed well over $600 - $650 million by close of business on Sunday. Last year, Marvel's The Avengers made $80.8 million on its opening day and went on to become the highest grossing film of 2012. Back in 2010, Iron Man 2 earned $51.2 million on Friday and went on to make $128.1 million during its first weekend. Meanwhile, Deadline reports that the threequel will actually bring in between $63 - $71 million today and $174 million for the first domestic weekend. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

I have to admit this movie disappointed me. I've been a huge Iron Man fan since before the first movie, so I had high hopes for this one. The Mandarin was a total letdown, there wasn't enough time developing ANY of the villains, it seemed like they were shoving too much stuff into one movie. Still, not a bad light show for 9 bucks.

kenjim@ how much do you think they gonna make them? if I get it right don't forget about the drink.

iron man 3 was good, better than x-men 3 and spiderman 3.

marvel has the second best cbm triology in their hands behind the dark knight's triology.

cant wait to see more superheros reaching their third movies. cap, thor and spiderman(again) are probably the next.

I really wanted to love this one. It was okay. The gauntlet/boot/pistol scene was the best of the action scenes. Everything else was just mediocre. It was a solid movie and I'd give it a 7/10. I'm a really hard critic though.

liked

-robert downey jr was on top form as tony stark/iron man
-sir ben kingsley performance as the mandarin (those videos featuring the mandarin)
-rebecca hall = hot! hot! hot!
-extremis soldiers
-most of the music
-loved all the different armours including iron patriot
-some of the comedy was good
-awesome cgi from getting in & out of armour to the final battle
-most of the acting was good
-all of the action was top notch
-some of the scenes involving the kid
-the yeltsin cameo at the start
-well written in places
-the end credit scene

disliked

-the twist. (i wanted the mandarin to be the villain of the movie that did piss me off even though that scene was funny)
-pepper potts with extremis in her & defeating killian, thank f*ck they removed it.
-some of the scenes with the kid.
-the slapstick comedy.
-some of the acting was poor.
-badly written in places.
-that f*ckin blue song at the party, couldn't they of found something better to play during that scene.

not the best comic book movie but it certainly isn't the worse.

someone please tell me what all the complaints are BESIDES the Mandarin twist??? i get that one. But everything else is very trivial. It was a good movie. I like how everyone was saying that the trailers gave away too much, but in the end, the trailers only gave away 20% of the story

I enjoyed the movie as part of the movie universe.
As part of the comic universe it sucked balls.
That is how I have taken the whole thing. None of the movies follow the 616 because its not that universe, it is part of its own thing.

@69ballzdeep
You can find some in the comments of Mark Julian's review. One was the fact Tony's suits were treated like disposable pieces of junk when in the previous films, they really felt like powerful pieces of technology. Seriously the Mark 42 got hit by a truck and broke into pieces WTH was that. They had the durability of tin foil. And the Tony Stark meets Far Cry 3 shootout thing.
