Don Cheadle Confirms IRON MAN 3 Re-Shoots Next Week & Touts A Big Finale

I'm I jerked if I still can't accept Don Cheadle as Lt. Colonel? I think he is a wonderful actor, and I like him in so many movies, but for me, Terrance Howard was a perfect as James "Rhodey" Rhodes. I mean it's not fault to Cheadle, he did as well as he could in Iron Man 2, but sometimes an actor just isn't the right fit, no matter how talented they are.

COLLIDER: Expectations on Iron Man 3 are going to be sky high. What are your hopes for it?

CHEADLE: I hope that it performs to those levels. We did a little piece of it at Comic-Con and people went crazy. It looked great. The script is good. We’re doing a couple re-shoots next week, but I’m encouraged.

COLLIDER: Are you doing the re-shoots here in town?

CHEADLE: Yes, in Manhattan Beach.

COLLIDER: Do your kids like having a superhero dad?

CHEADLE: I don’t think it matters to them. They still want me to drive them places and go get food and take them to movies. It doesn’t really matter. They haven’t asked me to fly them there yet.

COLLIDER: What was it like working with Shane Black on Iron Man 3?

CHEADLE: It was good. We had a good time. It’s a really good cast. It’s a very interesting script. It was a lot of fun.

COLLIDER: What did you think of the red, white and blue armor?

CHEADLE: Oh, I’ll let you react to that when you see it.

COLLIDER: How will your character shake things up in Iron Man 3?

CHEADLE: I’m not supposed to say that he kills Robert Downey Jr.’s character. Is that a spoiler? That would be a spoiler. You knew that was coming. You read the comic books. No. I will just say that the buddy relationship that these guys have gets tighter. The third act set piece for the big finale is bigger and badder. It’s just a lot more.

Iron Man 3 was directed by Shane Black, and will hit theaters May 3, 2013! The film stars: Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Gwyneth Paltrow (Virginia Potts), Don Cheadle (Col. James Rhodes), and Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin.

spongegeek- "Hey guys? Am I the only one wondering if they'll recast both RDJ and Don Cheadle for Phase 3?? WAt the end of Avengers 2 wouldn't it be awesome to see Tony Stark get his hands back on the cosmic cube and all of a sudden he becomes younger (Late 20's/Early 30's) and as for War Machine I honestly think he should get beat pretty bad to where he's mostly cyborg like in the comics."

I am just going to be sick of seeing all of the unsold action figures of the new iron man armour and this new Red white blue armour...

I think Teerence Stamp was not a good fit as he was a little wimpy in my thoughts and Cheadle is an ok actor but I think the role should of gone to someone who is a little more menacing and a bit tougher as well...

I like him better than Terrance actually. To me Rhodey should be more militaryish than Terrance played him. I also liked it that he had a more buddy relationship with Tony instead of Tony being the cool guy and Rhodey being a sort of friend that doesn't know why he likes this guy. Don plays him that he likes and cares for Tony, doesn't always agree with him but still is his buddy.

but sometimes an actor just isn't the right fit, no matter how talented they are

wow talk about a slap in the face,

usually thats the excuse Film producers/directors gives when they race bend/white wash characters like in the last air bender.

"we didnt care about what they look like we wanted the best actors" yeah right

@nail

I have to disagree. I thought Terrance Howard was absolutely horrendous at James Rhodes. In fact, he was so bad its forced Don Cheadle to be softer than he should. I think they both fail but Cheadle is actually bearable opposed to the very sissy Howard

The entire third act will be a final battle between Iron Man, War Machine & Rescue v. The Mandarin, Coldblood, & Firepower
