Comic Book History

Who is IRON MONGER?
The first and most notable person to use the name IRON MONGER is OBADIAH STANE; he is a Marvel Comics supervillain mostly appearing in Iron Man books. Stane first appeared in Iron Man #200 (November 1985), and was created by Dennis O'Neil and Luke McDonnell.
First Appearance

The first appearance of the IRON MONGER armor was in Iron Man #200

A wealthy financier, OBADIAH STANE is president and CEO of his own company (Stane International) as a munitions dealer. He also goes into business with Howard Stark. After Stark and his wife died in a car accident, Stane turns his sights on acquiring control of Stark International, the industrial corporation he had worked with, now owned by Tony Stark (Howard's son). Stane and his associates conspire to lock Stark International out of various business deals. Circumstances orchestrated by OBADIAH STANE led Tony Stark to the edge, and he catastrophically relapsed into alcoholism. Stane then buys out Stark International.

After taking over Stark International, OBADIAH STANE provided munitions and weapons to S.H.I.E.L.D. and others who could pay for them. Stane would also find notes and information about the Iron Man armor, on which he eventually creates his IRON MONGER armor. In which he believe is "far superior to Stark's Iron Man armor". He even considers selling them to the highest bidder or creating an army of IRON MONGERs, using them to "take over any country he wanted".

OBADIAH STANE in his IRON MONGER armor would later have a face-off with a sobered up Tony Stark who also got an armor upgrade, the suit known as the Silver Centurion. Obadiah will lose this fight, and opted for an easy way out by using his own repulsor ray on his head.

However, with Howard's death upon the plane crash, Obadiah inherited the title of CEO, until Anthony Stark is of the right age. He is an outspoken critic of Iron Man, and wishes to possess the armor for himself. In addition, he has been supplying criminals with high-powered tech, from Howard's vault.

LIVE MEDIA APPEARANCE/S
JEFF BRIDGES
Jeff Bridges plays OBADIAH STANE in the first Iron Man movie. This version of Stane is Stark's mentor, an old friend and business partner who handles the day-to-day workings of the company, while Stark serves mainly as "an idea man". Stane would later steal the prototype MK-I suit of Tony to create his IRON MONGER armor.

CBM FIGHT CLUB CHALLENGE

Message to the CBM community:
To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not, please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie (though I include TV characters). Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters. Thank you for reading these articles! If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there). -This has been PollMaster inviting you to the geekside. MABUHAY CBM and Godspeed!

Iron Monger is cool. You should do Red Tornado, The Skrull, or the one I want the most Professor Zoom. Either of those would be good.

I ALWAYS WONDERED, HOW STARK COULD JUST TELL JARVIS TO FABRICATE HIS ARMOR..

I'M GUESSING HIS FABRICATOR MACHINE APPARATUS PROLLY DOES IT LIKE THIS:

PRETTY SICK HUH? ALL CARVED OUT BY A ROBOTIC ASSIST A COMPUTER PROGRAM AND A SOLID BLOCK OF METAL.

@Gunsmith: That kind of tech has been around for a long, long time. I studied computer aided drafting years ago. All you have to do is design the schematics and a CAD machine makes the object for you. It was very cool to watch happen. I'm 100% sure that is what Jarvis does.

Stane was a huge part of that movie. Bridges played the character fu.ckin great. His mannerisms, his voice even was just so badass. Truly the greatest comic book movie from Marvel.
