I think the Mark V is Tony Stark's first attempt at a collaspiable suitcase armor. The reason I say is because the crinkles in it, and how similar it looks to the suitcase from ET's Iron Man 2 Set visit.

ATOMbomb, that avatar is horrid. I'm nauseous, I'm nauseous, I'm nauseous...

The whole suitcase armor thing explains how Stark is gonna kick Vanko's ass on the raceway for busting up that sweet as Indy car, and do it without pulverizing him beyond recognition as I'm sure this portable armor would be significantly weaker than the real deal.

Jusme6, yet... haven't seen the movie, have you? I say they need some surprises and Rourke entering the fray smashing a swath through Stark and Rhodey in full Dynamo armor would be that I think. If they do, I think this Whiplash/Dynamo hybrid will have eerie resemblances to Omega Red as well.

I am soooo looking forward to the release of the arc reactor. I'm gonna buy that thing and wear it all the time.
Also, I think that the Mark IV is the collapsible one and the Mark V is Silver Centurion.

Thats gotta be the suit in case form. Cause i remember that ET set visit. That showed Pepper getting out of the car that was ripped in half by whiplash. And seeing tony on the ground with whiplash walking closer and closer. How else is he gonna get outta that situation without some kind of armor. Thats my theory.

Theory: mark V is a suit case suit, which Vanko gets ahold of to create Crimson Dynamo. It does have some similarities to the bare structure of whiplash and it's awefully crimsony. Just a thought. Plus it's easier to steal a suit case than a suit of armor

Maybe he goes for the extremis suit after he realizes how his enemies now have this great technology of the arc reactor. And realizes that suit the Mark V will not be as powerful of a suit he needs on a moments notice.
