RUMOR: Possible IRON MAN 3 Details Leak

Latino Review claim to have a few juicy details on how Tony Stark's third outing will shake out, and if they are legit the plot may be taking a cue from one of the most famous Iron Man stories..

So a scooper over at Latino Review reckons Shane Black's Iron Man 3 might just be based, at least in part, on the incredibly popular "Extremis" story-line from the comics. They say they can't go into too much detail but what follows is what they do tell us..

Nanobots, people!

- Nanobots that make villains

- Nanobots that can also make Tony Stark more than a man in a suit.

- Which is an idea planted in Tony Stark’s head by Captain America in THE AVENGERS because Avengers leads directly into Iron Man 3.

- Production on Iron Man 3 starts in May.

Now although "nanobots" are not necessarily specific to the Extremis story-line, I'm pretty sure that is what these guys are referencing. In that arc by Warren Ellis, Tony Stark is basically upgraded into a type of "Cyborg" himself - separate to the technology powering his suit. It's a lot more complex that that but I'm not going into it here, Google is your friend! But it does involve nano-technology (as far as I can remember they don't actually use the term "nanobot"). As for that part about Nanobots making villains? Well in the Extremis story-line Stark goes up against a character known simply as "Mallen", but I'm going to hazard a guess that he will not be the main antagonist in the story. So who could it be? Well these details could also tie in to an appearance by The Mandarin, who was also involved with Extremis in a later story when he released the "virus" on a large scale as part of his plan to 'reshape' the human race. That character has long been rumored and hoped for, could he be a possibility given this information, and assuming it's on the level? Latino Review tend to be pretty reliable, but we will find out soon enough if their theory on The Avengers tying directly into Iron Man 3 is correct when the movie comes out in a few weeks.

Deleted it myself good folks, I don't know much about extremis. Not being much of a comic reader finally caught up with me...or it could be I'm extremely tired lol

Either way, I'm glad we're hearing something about the movie, even if it isn't true.

Anyone remember when nanobots were placed in villains? I wonder if we'll see the Thunderbolts in the future.

Latino Review broke the Goyer/Nolan involvement with the Superman reboot at WB story.

Since that I've learned not to doubt them until it's time to doubt them if ya get me.

the Extremis storyline was one of the best Iron Man solo stories since Demon in a Bottle. granted, it didn't really have a good villain, but then again most Iron Man comics don't. i hope they find a way to adapt it, because I think the addition of the Extremis Armor would be fantastic.
also, anything that adds to my dream of a Civil War movie (in like 10 years, at this rate) is something i look forward to

Yes, they have also posted stuff that didn't turn out to be true..as have we, which is why I labelled it a rumor. That Nolan scoop was massive though, proving they DO have contacts and lending credence to any "exclusive" they post, at least until it's debunked.

Turning stark into part android?? Isn't that movie version of jumping the shark? I really don't care for that.

But I'm thinking it's just an extremely dangerous villain.

The main reason I find LR legit is because while being mixed with Marvel for other reasons, they asked if I knew LR's source of info.

That's interesting. I didn't read the actual comic, but I did watch the motion comic. It was very well done. One of the best ones so far.

If they're adapting the Extremis story arc, and they make Mallen the main villain. That would be a huge mistake. He's not a well known villain, and I can't see him carrying a whole movie.

They need to bring in Mandarin. People have been asking for him since the first Iron Man movie.

@eleven59

You don't read many Iron Man comics, do you?
Jumping the shark would be to make a last minute change (usually drastic) in order to gain more viewers or other reasons. If the plot point serves as a solid story, than I would not classify it as "jumping the shark."

If I remember correctly, the novelized version of Iron Man 2 had Tony playing with some kind of special metal that formed at will. My memory sucks, did anyone read the novel?

I don't know why the Extremis freaks me out as much as it does, but it does.

Even still, it would be hella awesome, if that's the direction they're taking Iron Man 3. Instead of Iron Man walking through some car wash-style mechanism that suits him up, imagine him just activating it with his mind...

That would be so sweet.

@jimoakley666

Let's hope they don't jump the importance of Iron Man too soon, just to fit in Rescue. I don't even know how they'd be able to add that into their current story-line. It just wouldn't make sense, for the movie-verse.

Would definately be interested if they took this route, just remember guys, the movie is never the exact same as the comic... Mandarin for Ironman 3.

I would really like to the the film take on Extremis. I'm hoping that they DO address it somehow.

I think going the extremis route would be interesting but I just don't know if that will fit in the 3rd movie. I still think they haven't addressed the Demon in a Bottle storyline and I think that should come first.

It would be cool if they introduced hank pym and wasp and made it hanks technology then it some how turns into ultron, then after his defeat ultrons program(still being alive somehow) does little end credit scenes for the next few solo hero flicks leading up to avengers 2 with a super ulton that they all fight, with hank, wasp, and vision on the team, that would be sweet

@VandalSavage Source on the film title? Force Works sounds like a working title not a theatrical one.

Should have gone with the cross over again, If its based after the avengers they should have had them struggling to contain THE HULK at the end of the avengers movie and then have it lead into IRON MAN creating the hulkbuster to capture him.
