From Academy Award®--winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes "John Carter"—a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). "John Carter" is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands. The screenplay was written by Andrew Stanton, Mark Andrews and Michael Chabon.

He was also really good in Iron Clad and Solomon Kane. (Still can't believe Solomon Kane didn't get a U.S. release!) I hope this gets him more major movie roles.

Ironclad was a good movie. I was kinda surprise. And he was great in Rome. He could potentially be a good Doctor Strange.

James Purefoy was great in Solomon Kane, it is truly baffling that a major blockbuster like this would not be released in the US simply because it's not american. This show to me a fear of letting in a foreign movie, they are protecting their domestic product and ultimately want control on the cut and being a European film I guess it was not possible. Still Solomon Kane is a truly terrific action adventure film and put James Purefoy on the map of future megastars without question, the next James Bond perhaps ?
