It Sounds Like Warner Bros. Are Taking JUSTICE LEAGUE In A Very Different Direction To BATMAN v SUPERMAN

The response to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice wasn't what Warner Bros. expected, but based on a new report, both the studio and Zack Snyder will be handing Justice League very differently...

Variety has a fascinating piece up about the future of the DC Films Universe in which they touch on everything from the possibility of Geoff Johns taking on a Kevin Feige like role in Warner Bros. to the way they reacted to the critical and commercial response to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

However, perhaps the most interesting titbit comes when the trade addresses Zack Snyder's plans for Justice League. It sounds as if the plan has always been to take that superhero ensemble in a very different direction to what's come before, and the fact that it will be a "crowd-pleaser" is sure to make those who didn't enjoy Batman v Superman's darker and more serious tone very happy indeed.

As for 'Batman v Superman,' those involved weren’t prepared for the critical knives the film received, but they always knew it was going to be a transitional film, bridging the gap between 'Man of Steel' (which was produced with no plan in place to expand the universe) and anything approaching the Avengers/Super Friends mold. But I’m told 'Justice League' will be a crowd-pleaser more suited to Snyder’s talents, and that the upcoming two-part event is 'extremely kinetic and visual.' It will be far more straightforward than existential in its handling of superheroes.

While some will no doubt be quick to jump to the conclusion that this shift in tone is a response to the reception Batman v Superman received, it definitely sounds like this is an idea which has been in place for a while now. Tell us, do you guys think that's the right direction to take Justice League in?

Making something lighter or darker doesn't change poor storytelling, which is the problem I had with the last movie.
