An alienated 12-year-old boy befriends a mysterious young newcomer in his small New Mexico town, and discovers an unconventional path to adulthood in Let Me In, a haunting and provocative thriller written and directed by filmmaker Matt Reeves (Cloverfield). Twelve-year old Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee) is viciously bullied by his classmates and neglected by his divorcing parents. Achingly lonely, Owen spends his days plotting revenge on his middle school tormentors and his evenings spying on the other inhabitants of his apartment complex. His only friend is his new neighbor Abby (Chloe Moretz), an eerily self-possessed young girl who lives next door with her silent father (Richard Jenkins). A frail, troubled child about Owens’s age, Abby emerges from her heavily curtained apartment only at night and always barefoot, seemingly immune to the bitter winter elements. Recognizing a fellow outcast, Owen opens up to her and before long, the two have formed a unique bond. When a string of grisly murders puts the town on high alert, Abby’s father disappears, and the terrified girl is left to fend for herself. Still, she repeatedly rebuffs Owen’s efforts to help her and her increasingly bizarre behavior leads the imaginative Owen to suspect she’s hiding an unthinkable secret.

I'm looking forward to this I must say, despite being a big fan of the original.

Let Me In opens in theaters on October 1st, 2010.

Oh and in case you were wondering, this is now a CBM:)

Another bad remake brought to you by advocates for people too stupid or too lazy to read subtitles. Can't wait for the English language version of "Dead Snow." How will they translate the Zombie Nazis to New Mexico?

I don't think that remaking a foreign film counts as the usual rehashed drivel coming out of Whollyweird. They've been doing that LOOOOoooong before it was hip to be uninspired.

I've been meaning to check out the original for a long time and cant wait for this especially as the brilliant Richard Jenkins is in it! (who'd make a perfect Uncle Ben..!)

Let the Right One In was a great film and I'm a big fan although I haven't read the book which it is originally adapted from.

I read that the makers of this one are not doing a remake of the other film but it will be another adaptation of the book. That will be really interesting but the problem with that is, it will be compared to the first film whether they like it or not so I don't think it will be appreciated as much.

Anyhows, I can't wait for this plus Chloe Moretz is AMAZING!

everyone is so mad this is being remade but it doesnt ruin the integrity of the firsto ne.. and hell i think making a graphic novel out of this is jsut as lame as a remake.. its all a cash in on an open shut story.. the movie didnt need a remake, a sequel, and graphic novel its jsut a great stand alone movie based on a good book. Im excited for this and im a fan of the original.. those 2 things dont hafta be separate.. As for the name.. the name is the name of the book so no one can bitch about that.

I get why Hollywood might feel the need to remake this remarkable film, but I see it as an indictment on the average American film goer that so many won't bother watching the original because it requires that they be literate.

@whovian. it doesnt even require that much effort.. they have a dubbed version out.. but in its defense, i know many movie lovers and horror movie lover that never heard of the thing.. it just doesnt have much word spread on it in the states.

Only saw the original once. I enjoyed the way the vampire mythos was depicted in "Let The Right One In." That film had the eerie old-school "Exorcist" film vibe going for it.

Hit Girl as Eli? or Abby? Promising. :)

Let the right 1 in was a great film. Too bad our country can't come out with great original films and not remake other countries. Ring, The Eye, The grudge, etc. All were not even close to being as good as the foreign ones.

MovieTheaterLad is angry

Hollywood is out of ideas. Good ones at least. It's a money game, Laddie. It's cheaper to take a proven property and adapt it (or remake it outright) than it is to start from scratch.

The issue is that these remakes are rarely even half as good as the originals. This movie will most likely be another example of that. If it turns out being the next Departed, then I stand corrected.
