"Kick-Ass" Press Conference at Comic-Con

"Kick-Ass" Press Conference at Comic-Con

Comic-Con was the only place to see footage from the Mark Millar/John Romita, Jr. comic "Kick-Ass," and that footage...well, kicked ass. The creators of the comic as well as cast members and director Matthew Vaughn participated in a press conference in which they took audience questions. What follows is the audio of that press conference (minus the sounds from the clips that were shown).

The movie really does look amazing. They don't have a distributor yet, but hopefully they will following Comic-Con. Blew me away!

I live a couple miles from there. I go with my wife and our friends every year. Her ex Boyfriend, was there in 07 at my house before we left. I had a A Giant Sized X-men #1. I was going to take it with me to get Stan Lee's autograph. This was my second attempt to get it. NYC APPLECON 86. So right before I leave my house, we're in the car and I say "oh $h!+, I forgot my sharpie." I am experienced in getting autographs, but then the ex b/f says...hey someone will probably have a sharpie when you go to get signatures. I was like not following my instincts(spirit Guides) But I said okay. So I go and I find out Stan Lee is going to be on this panel. I go with my son who's 2. I am waiting feeding my kid fishies. So he's taken care of. I ended of getting a seat right up front next to the handicapped seats. So Stan Lee comes in the fans go nuts, and then they are going to show a preview clip of the upcoming film about Stan. Stan comes down from the panel and sits one seat away from me. I grab my pen. Then realize no. I need my sharpie. I look around to any fans..asking..nothing!! I try to go for it with the pen. 2nd oppurtunity in my life to get his autograph I remind you. When I turn to Stan to ask him to sign....the bouncer got between us..."No Autpographs!" I missed my 20 second window of oppurtunity! Foiled a 2nd time!! AAARRRGGGGHH!!! Follow your instincts my Comic book Brothers & Sisters.

Matthew Vaughn said that there probably wouldn't be a publicly-released trailer until there's a distributor in place.

I don't understand they can get distributors for shit like dragon ball, chun li, punsher warzone etc....but they can't get a distributor for this? With half the shit that comes
out in theatres today I figured everyone with an idea and apparently some alcohol can get a dstributor.

I thought this was a video, but the audio was still really good.

I think the problem with a distributor is that they simply wouldn't know how to sell it. You've got a little kid hacking a room full of people to death -- it's a jaw-dropping sequence, but bloody as hell and they are probably afraid of it.

@superdog

well, that's because those were made with studio backing.

This is an independent comic book film. And I think that's great. Really gives the smaller comic properties a chance, if they get developed...
