It was always a topic of debate among fans..How will the movie end when the comics haven't yet?. Well, the "Kick Ass" artist John Romita Jr gave some answers when he did an interview with Mania. Romita offered an update on his current comic book progress stating that he was almost done with issue #7 and into issue #8 — the series’ final issue. But he says that he is aware that what he draws may not end up matching up with director Mathew Vaughn's vision for the ending of the movie..

“Things have to be independent because, as [Millar] made the great point, we don’t want to look like we’re ‘demagoging’ the film and trying to capitalize on it. We didn’t want to do that,” said Romita.

Animation fans will be happy with this! Romita is also designing some animated sequences to be used as flashbacks in the movie...

“Matthew Vaughn is a fan of the comic, and that’s where the flashback animation sequence comes from. He wanted an homage to the comic. He was a fan of my pacing and storytelling and used as much as he could along those lines,” Romita said, “As long as you get along with people professionally and don’t get too abrasive, generally you’re going to find the happy medium.”

thetorch ~ so, all you hard core Kick Ass fans out there...what do you think they're gonna alter for the film?

I saw the footage at Comic-Con last year for The Spirit, and I knew then it was going to be shit.

It could be the same, but I really like Matthew Vaughn, and trust that he can make a good film.

I've always been a big fan of John Romita Jr's art and cant wait to see it worked into the movie. As for the changes, I'll try to keep an open mind.

LEE: Jason Lewis would probably go a step further than ass sucking if you offered him a role in another chocolate ad without his shirt on (after all the Aero ad has been the highlight of his career so far so im guessing he would go ALL the way for a part in an ad for a Mars bar!)

Ive gotta find the back issues for Kick-Ass-i cant believe i missed it especially as its written by my favourite comic writer and drawn by one of my favourite comic artists!!

Josh24, I wish ya' luck on locating those Kick-Ass back issues. I recall issue one selling out several printings. Hell, even I was only able to get the second printing. Who knows when the trade will be out?

longbowhunter: i know all about hunting back issues and what a pain it is, lol! i fell behind on a lot of comic books last year but the hardest to find were Invincible Iron Man #9 and #10 and Wolverine #66 and #67. However after a lot of money and time I found all the brand new first prints of these issues thank god!
