Deadline reveals that Universal Pictures are in talks to make Kick-Ass 2, the sequel to Matthew Vaughn's 2010 movie based on the popular comic book series by writer Mark Millar and artist John Romita Jr. Jeff Wadlow is attached to direct the script that he has written, with production expected to begin this August. Talks are already underway with actors Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Wadlow (Cry Wolf, Never Back Down) wrote the script for Matthew Vaughn and the site reveals that it is already before Universal’s green-light committee with a deal set to close very soon.

Oh man this is a poor choice - Personally I would have love to seen Gareth Evans (Director of The Raid: Redemption) take a crack at this!

Matthew Vaughan needed to make this sequel. His style and vision as director is what made the first work so well.

I'm shocked this is going to be made. Domestically, this film did not do well. It made money internationally, but still.

Don't know about the choice of director, also wondering why Lionsgate isn't releasing it.

Still, if Vaughn has faith in this guy, it could be good.
