Sad, but true.
Franshu - 12/1/2022, 12:06 PM
I pretty much agree with every single thing said on this list. Except for "a villainous turn from the Scarlet Witch no one wanted" --I actually thought one of the weakest aspects of the WANDAVISION finale was the forced "redemption" of Wanda through that line that went sort of like "no one will know what you've lost". DUDE, the woman just enslaved a whole town! Everything was set up for the villainous turn to run smoothly (albeit maybe not to the extent it did in MoM) and they [frick]ing mishandled it.
batmanink - 12/1/2022, 2:13 PM
@Franshu - I’m with you there. I wish they didn’t let Wanda off without even a slap on the wrist. And I don’t like that they made it all the doing of the darkhold in MoM. She could have been the next big bad, or at least been a sort of interim big bad until Kang was firmly established, or sat in the shadows until mutants came around. I also don’t think she had enough time with her “kids” in WV to justify what she was doing in MoM. But anyway.
Taonrey - 12/1/2022, 12:06 PM
love & Thunder was extremely frustrating, wasted bale performance, hyped up a Valkyrie storyline that we never got. Also is just me or did Chris Hemsworth not want to film this movie.
bkmeijer1 - 12/1/2022, 12:06 PM
I disagree with most, if not all, of these.

Yeah sure, it wasn't as great as Phase 3, but Phase 4 on it's own I still thoroughly enjoyed it and understand all the choices they made.

Only mistake I would say is the rate at which they produce content. I can't keep up (although no one forces me to watch everything. I don't read all comics either).
Taonrey - 12/1/2022, 12:07 PM
@bkmeijer1 - think it’s about on par with phase 1 and 2.
bkmeijer1 - 12/1/2022, 1:01 PM
@Taonrey - can agree to that. Still, Phase 2 is my favourite because of Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy
Tonic24k - 12/1/2022, 1:44 PM
@bkmeijer1 - Same! Phase 4 was excellent in so many ways. I have some minor complaints. But overall, it certainly delivered some of the best MCU moments.

But also, it's the first phase of the new saga. Of course it's not going to outshine Phase 3! People's expectations of that are out of wack. And even despite all this, Phase 4, according to reviews and box office performance, it's ranked as the second best phase.
bkmeijer1 - 12/1/2022, 2:36 PM
@Tonic24k - I'm too lazy to look it up, but I'm guessing 3 is the best phase according to reviews and box office?
cubichy - 12/1/2022, 4:16 PM
@bkmeijer1 - Dude, really, did we watch the same things. My girl, a neutral 3rd party walked out of Love and Blunder, because it was so bad. I had to finish it by myself, splits, riding storm breaker, which killed thanos, like a harry potter broom, wasted Gorr, no story, plot holes with infinity, joking about kidnapped kids and using plushies to fight giant spiders, really. joking about cancer, killing jane, wasting Gorr, larger villain than thanos, potentially, it's like amateur hour, it's like watching a power rangers' episode...green lantern was better....no redemption oath here. just garbage.
bkmeijer1 - 12/1/2022, 4:56 PM
@cubichy - yeah we did watch the same thing, and I agree L&T did have it's issues and could've been handled a lot better. Still managed to find things to enjoy though.
cubichy - 12/6/2022, 1:35 PM
@bkmeijer1 - What did you enjoy about it, wasted Valkyrie, the goats were crap and not alien gifts, they fly without stormbreaker, bet you really liked the jokes about the kidnapped kids and how the god of Thunder embused the kids with lighting so they can then use their plushies to ZAP giant spiders. Or was it the massive Infinity plot hole, Thor could have avoided the snap and just asked infinity for help. Crap and Garbage. Read the gorr saga and you will see great content, not the gad laced, power ranger's episode that we got. Thor has not power over Mjolnir and he cannot compel it to obey Jane. Love doesn't exist and was made up for Hemmworths daughter, he cannot give Love Mjolnir, he as not power or way to do that. all crap and garbage made by @taika. Also Hercules needs to be recast with a real bruiser that will give Thor a real run for his money, and not just gags, maybe we will finally get Berserker Thor.
bkmeijer1 - 12/6/2022, 2:56 PM
@cubichy - '' bet you really liked the jokes about the kidnapped kids''

No, but there were other jokes I liked. And Jane's whole journey was pretty good as well (even how she got Mjolnir).
ShimmyShimmyYA - 12/1/2022, 12:06 PM
Ok

The mutants are not exclusively tied to the X men and that’s even part of X men stories

X men are a group of mutants not the other way around there’s non-affiliated mutants all around marvel I don’t see you complaining about namor being one (they said it)
Drewwright816 - 12/1/2022, 1:12 PM
@ShimmyShimmyYA - because Namor is a mutant in the comics
batmanink - 12/1/2022, 2:24 PM
@ShimmyShimmyYA - didn’t finish ms marvel (liked the show but got serious marvel fatigue at this point). Did they say she IS A MUTANT or that she had a GENETIC MUTATION that allowed the bands to work?

It might seem like splitting hairs, but if it’s the latter, it’s way easier to walk back, retcon, or alter it’s intended interpretation.

To me if it’s the latter, it’s more likely a red herring.
ShimmyShimmyYA - 12/1/2022, 2:36 PM
@batmanink - they said she has a mutation and played the X men animated series music . It was a nod to the audience that the actress and feige confirmed later on meant she was a mutant now and not an inhuman
batmanink - 12/1/2022, 3:06 PM
@ShimmyShimmyYA - I see. Hard to walk that back 😬
LiteraryJoe - 12/1/2022, 3:15 PM
@batmanink @shimmyshimmyya - She was originally supposed to be a mutant in the comics but they changed it to push Inhumans.

And Namor was Marvel's first mutant, to further the point of @drewwright816
ShimmyShimmyYA - 12/1/2022, 4:18 PM
@LiteraryJoe - my point in bringing up namor was that it’s stupid to say something about mcu introducing Kamala as a mutant without the X men being a thing and not make the same stink about namor

Because the X men are just a group of mutants at the end of the day you don’t need them to have mutants in the mcu
batmanink - 12/1/2022, 5:05 PM
@LiteraryJoe - I have no beef with it. There are a few good reasons to avoid making her an inhuman. I just wondered if this was one of those things like the infinity gauntlet in Odin’s trophy room: just vague enough to be retconnable down the road, or if it was a committed reference. Sounds like they committed.
LiteraryJoe - 12/1/2022, 10:12 PM
@ShimmyShimmyYA - I definitely misunderstood your comment or misread it, my apologies. We are in agreement lol.
LiteraryJoe - 12/1/2022, 10:14 PM
@batmanink - Yeah, they did, and pretty much said the bangle just enhanced or unlocked her powers. Gives Marvel a chance to have her powers on her own and more like the comics, imo.
RolandD - 12/1/2022, 12:14 PM
Oh Josh.
CyberBishop - 12/1/2022, 4:57 PM
@RolandD - Sad isn't it..
