Henry Cavill May Surprise During WB's SDCC Panel; Marvel Studios Expected To Save Biggest Reveals For D23

A new report has shed some light on what to expect this weekend during San Diego Comic-Con, and it sounds like Hall H attendees could be treated to a surprise appearance from the Man of Steel himself!

Deadline has posted an extensive preview of what to expect this weekend during the first in-person San Diego Comic-Con in two years, and they've shared a small nugget that could have bombshell ramifications for the future of DC Films.

According to their sources, Warner Bros.' theatrical panel on Saturday morning will be headlined by Black Adam and Shazam: Fury of the Gods, with stars Dwayne Johnson and Zachary Levi both expected to be in attendance to hype up their respective films, alongside other unannounced cast members.

Attendees will also likely get early looks at Ezra Miller's The Flash and Jason Momoa's Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, since both were heavily featured during the studio's CinemaCon presentation earlier this year.

However, while all of that was expected, things get interesting with the mention that there's been an increasing amount of buzz that Henry Cavill will make a surprise appearance to tease his future as Superman - a move that, if true, would absolutely blow the roof off Hall H.

They don't reveal much else, but considering DHD was the first to break the news that Tom Cruise would surprise Comic-Con with the first teaser for Top Gun: Maverick in 2019, this should be taken as more than just a rumor. As for whether Cavill actually shows up, we'll just have to wait and see.

The Warner Bros. Theatrical panel kicks off at 10:15 AM PST (1:15 PM EST) and we'll be covering the event LIVE, so be sure to tune in!

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios, the weekend's biggest headliner, is expected to share the first official look at Ryan Coogler's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and an extended sneak preview of upcoming Tatiana Maslany-fronted Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law during their Hall H panel on Saturday night. We'd expect both trailers to make their way online around the same time.

While we could also get footage or concept art from Ant-Man and the Wasp: QuantumaniaGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3The Marvels, the Untitled Halloween Special, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday SpecialSecret InvasionIronheart, Echo, and/or Loki season two, fans may want to temper their expectations just a bit as their presentation is not expected to be on par with their 2019 panel.

In their story, Deadline stresses that they've heard Marvel Studios is saving many of their biggest reveals for Disney's own fan convention D23, which will take place in mid-September, so we'd be somewhat surprised if a major slate update was released this Saturday.

Kevin Feige is a master showman, so we should always expect a surprise or two to end the night, possibly updates on Fantastic Four, BladeDaredevil, or X-Men (The Mutants?), but it seems like, for now, they'll keep the focus on what's on the way this year rather than what's coming down the line. Fortunately, it doesn't sound like we'll have to wait too long for a major update as September is right around the corner, and it sounds like their D23 presentation will be quite substantial.

They'll also be an active presence on Friday, with their Marvel Studios Animation panel, where they'll reveal the first looks at  X-Men '97, Marvel Zombies, What If…? season two, and possibly Spider-Man: Freshman Year

The Marvel Studios panel starts at 5 PM PST (8 PM EST) on Saturday night, while the Marvel Studios Animation panel will begin at 11:45 AM PST (2:45 PM EST) on Friday morning. We'll also be covering both of those events LIVE, so don't miss out on all the fun!

As for any other major film news, Paramount is hosting a Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves panel on Thursday, and Keanu Reeves is set to take the Hall H stage on Friday to preview his upcoming BRZRKR movie, which should be plenty exciting.
