First reported after the infamous Sony Pictures hack that took place a little under two years ago, it looks like Sony Pictures are finally moving towards an official green-light on a crossover between the 21 Jump Street franchise and Men In Black. As reported:

The film will see Jump Street stars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill reprise their roles as undercover detectives Schmidt and Jenko, but they won't be joined by Men in Blackactors Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones. Sony is reportedly looking to recast Smith and Jones' iconic agent roles with younger actors.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller are not expected to return due to their commitment to the Han Solo spin off. Director James Bobin (Muppets Most Wanted) is in early talks to helm this crossover from the two with production looking to start in July.

I mean, if Lord and Miller had their fingers in this (along with Smith and Jones returning) then this really could be a home run.

The Original Story from Variety says they haven't greenlit the film yet and are only in early talks with Bobin. This movie ain't happening anytime soon if at all.

the only studio more anemic than Sony at this point would be Lions Gate. Holy shit, are these guys losing it.

I would prefer a new Men in Black movie based on the comic. The comic was very dark and the MIB were some sickos. I wonder if Sony has to pay Disney a royalty for this spinoff because Men in Black is a Marvel lP. Marvel owns the rights to MIB because they bought Malibu Comics and MIB was one of the many titles they brought out.
