THE MUMMY: New Extended Preview Offers Up Some Major Spoilers Regarding Tom Cruise's Character; Teases Dracula

"Am I dead?"

If yesterday's action-packed trailer for The Mummy didn't completely sell you on Universal's reboot of their classic Monster Movie Universe, then this new 60-second teaser might just do the trick as it features even more awesome footage from the upcoming Tom Cruise-starrer! Although, if you want to go in blind, then you may want to steer clear as it contains some heavy spoilers regarding Cruise's character Nick Morton and his relationship to Sofia Boutella's titular monster.

First off, the new teaser begins with some familiar beats before transitioning to Russell Crowe's Dr. Jekyll, who introduces his mysterious organization: Prodigium, whose sole purpose is to recognize, examine, contain, and destroy evil (including what is undoubtedly a vampire skull, likely hinting toward the existence of Dracula in this new universe). Also, judging by the footage provided, it seems as though Annabelle Wallis' Jenny Halsey and possibly Jake Johnson's Sgt. Vail are also working for this secret consortium.

It then shifts back to Cruise as he battles this unspeakable evil force and teases his character's potentially grim fate, ending with an ominous close-up of Cruise with the double irises.

Check out the new preview below:

So, does this mean Cruise will acquire the same abilities as The Mummy or does it mean he'll actually become the monster? Considering the spoiler-y last few seconds, there's also a chance it's just a major misdirect to hide the true identity of his "Nick Morton," who, in the past, has been rumored to maybe have ties to the one-and-only Van Helsing.

On another note, the film has apparently been testing quite well in early test screenings, so that should bode well for its potential reception this summer and be welcome news for fans.

What do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.

Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

The Mummy features:
Director: Alex Kurtzman

They should keep Luke Evans Dracula Untold in this universe. I know it wasn't a huge a success but i liked his Dracula.

@TheBeard - I think the overall reaction and lack of revenue doomed that film to a solitary fate in the eyes of universal. While I found it a good movie I would much rather prefer a new take on Dracula.

I thought it always seemed kind of obvious that he would become the hero Mummy of the universe by the end.

There is something wrong with Tom Cruise in a monster themed universe. I have trouble with his casting. But I am not sure why.

Starting to get pretty excited for this movie, will go in with medium expectations, but from what i've read and seen, i've really liked. Would be awesome if Cruise's character ends up being Van Helsing or a new interpretation of him. Can't have Cruise in this monster universe and not be something important.

@dontbringmedown

i also thought that was the case ... still, he could be Helsing descendant ... or Dorian Gray :)
jerryblake

let's check with what could screenwriter come up with:

1. TC is reincarnation or maybe descendant of Imhotep, Mummy lover.
2. Van Helsing descendant (make sense as he is a military type of guy)
3. Van Helsing himself, bitten by Dracula or saved by Mina Harker, can live forever have an amnesia (really :)
4. Descendant of Mina Harker (she had a son Quincy, he could be Tom grand, grand father), the Mummy could keep him alive because she saw something in him. or maybe he is immortal by genes.
5. Dorian Grey, obviously American version, amnesia.
6. Frankenstein (cute version, immortal, amnesia)
7. Wolfman ( by the end of the movie the moon is full and Tom is starting to transform, have a blackouts after each tranformation, cannot remember anything, is not aware he is THE BEAST)
8. Russel is Hyde, Cruise is Jekyll or the other way around. they seperate somehow (again ... really :)

@jerryblake - my guess is he's revealed to be Van Helsing.

This and Edge of Tomorrow prove that not even death can stop Tom Cruise.

Which is odd, considering that these two are the only movies where he reacts like a normal person instead of Tom Cruise.

Not getting the hopes to high for this one but certainly getting more and more excited with each clip! Its also nice to see a big budget movie not using loads of jokes and unnecessary comedy in their film (so far at least).
