DC fans had some great news over the weekend with the announcement that
A Wrinkle In Time director
Ava DuVernay would helm Warner Bros. adaptation of
The New Gods. Not only does this likely mean the cinematic introduction of Darkseid, but it also opens up a wealth of new stories for fans in the same way that
Guardians of the Galaxy did for Marvel Studios.
DuVernay herself teased her involvement with the project before she was officially confirmed to direct, and it looks like she is very passionate about the source material. On her personal Instagram page, the director posted a shot of a page from
The New Gods #1, first published in 1971.
While there are several prominent storylines to choose from, it'll probably be a welcome sign to many that DuVernay will go back to where it all started to mine her inspiration. Are there any storylines or elements you want to see included in the film? Let us know in the comments!
