AGBO, the production company behind movies like Extraction, Cherry, and The Gray Man, has announced its inaugural filmmaking competition, "No Sleep 'til Film Fest."
The event will invite budding filmmakers to make a short movie in only 48 hours. As part of AGBO's commitment to championing emerging content creators, the two-day festival challenges participants to make bite-sized films, three minutes or less, while keeping with the latest social distancing guidelines. It takes place from April 16th - April 18th, with the winners announced on May 7th.
The panel of judges includes Co-Founders and Chairmen Anthony and Joe Russo (Avengers: Endgame), Vice Chairman Mike Larocca, Co-Presidents of Story Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and President of Creative Angela Russo-Otstot. The AGBO executives will select three winning films to premiere across AGBO’s social channels.
The top three winners will also receive scriptwriting software from Final Draft and will join the AGBO Storytellers Collective, an alumni network of participants from other AGBO fellowship programs. Additionally, the first-place winner will receive camera equipment from RED and a storyboard sketch of their film from storyboard artist Anthony Leonardi. The second-place winner will receive an electric bike from Story Bikes. That should definitely help to motivate potential entrants!
"We consider it a privilege to watch the work of tomorrow’s storytellers, especially when crafted with this level of ingenuity and in the spirit of rising to a fun challenge. We can’t wait to see what the filmmakers come up with and we are excited to share their talents via this new platform," said Angela Russo-Otstot, AGBO’s President of Creative in a statement released yesterday.
This sounds like an incredible opportunity for budding filmmakers, and with a limited time to make these short movies, it should lead to the sort of creativity which results in something very special. Who knows, one of them could be the next director to tell a story in AGBO's varied and exciting slate of films and TV shows.
