They're both shite... if this is gong to be Action #1, it needs more reverence.

@thereverendjonnynemo I agree issue#1 needs to be symbolic. Thats why I like the variant issue because its a reimaging of the first Action Comic that introduced Superman.

Yup... at least the first sketch comes close. A number one should pay homage to the ground laid before, and if not, a unique look that says "I've arrived".

Ahem, don't you mean to say Superman #1? Action Comics #1 has Supes in jeans and a shirt running from the police.

The first cover captures some of the original dynamism of the original Action Comics. Second one not so much. Could easily be a WildCATS cover.

Looks more like Superboy or Superteen than Superman. Why is he de-aged? Is it still Clark Kent or what?

That's why the man gets the big bucks, but I hope he doesn't pull out of the book like he did with All-Star Batman & Robin the boy wonder.
Speaking of that, I'm still amused when I think about the issue where Robin jabs Green Lantern in the throat and Batman has to save Jordan's life by sticking a make shift straw in his trachea.Good stuff.

I've always been a fan of the images of superman stoping a train. I mean we've all have experienced a train or subway run past you and you cam feel the power, I don't know many a people who have ad a chance to be part of a meteor shower so can't compare scale.
So when you see one guy stoping a train with his hands it has a bigger effect.

Nobody can make that armour look good. DC trying to "marvelize" Supes is a huge mistake. Bring Supes back. FIRE DIDIO! FIRE LEE!

Jim Lee is a good artist. I don't think they should of let him re design all the characters though. Also why is no one else mentioning the fact that in sketch #2 Supes forearm and hand has morphed into some crazy alien gun weapon thing. Is that some kind of new power for him? If so that is horrible. This whole DCNU has epic fail written all over it. They will back out and go back to status quo in 2 years tops, using some kind of alternate reality thing event story. This reminds me of the Heroes Reborn crap from Marvel.

Jim Lee draws a nice Superman, too bad the George Perez version doesn't look half as good.
