Dan "The Man" Akroyd wants to incorporate a new Ghostbusters team made up of women?

When asked about the premise of the next installment of the classic 80's franchise Ghostbusters, Dan Akroyd believes that the movie will be moving along soon but he has learned "at any second everything could blow up." The plot for Ghostbusters 3 is still being hammered out but Dan is hoping for a five member team with several female members. Dan states "I'd like it to be a passing-of-the-torch movie. Let's revisit the old characters briefly and happily and have them there as family but let's pass it on to a new generation."

Who you might ask would Dan consider being the female members of the Next Gen Ghostbusters squad? Mr Akroyd would like to see Alyssa Milano and Eliza Dushku. Dan States "I think they're amazing." "And I'm excited about the whole idea of getting this done.".

Alyssa Milano has done some voice work for the new Ghostbusters video game, so that one kinda fits. I don't know where Dan got the Eliza Dushku idea. I think Alyssa would be cool to watch in Ghostbusters 3. It would be funny to see how Venkman reacts to her, him being old and her being the new hottie on the block. But no more females epically Eliza Dushku. That makes me not want to see the movie. Hopefully Vince Vaughn and maybe Jack Black will be included. Time will tell. As far as right now the details are being thought out, nothing is final until we get a studio confirmation.

Nice to hear they're in the works for a third installment. Not really sure how I feel about Alyssa Milano, I suppose could be fine. Jack Black would be awesome to have, Danny McBride, John C. Reilly, or would also be awesome Nick Swardson.

No, please no more Jack Black..iv just had enough of his bug eyed "humor" to last me a life time, this cast needs much more subtle comedic talents. I would agree with Vince Vaughn, maybe Paul Rudd. Hell id take Seth Rogen over Black!

Can we get the ban hammer on nonstopretard?

Can't wait fo the game to come out. I think it will be a fun game but the controls might be weird.

I'm excited for the potential this movie has, but a little worried over how it will all pan out, especially with the "new" cast... I hope for the best.

Smolo: The game looks really cool, and with the advent of the Wii interactive technology, should make for interesting game play, to say the least!

John C. Reilly and Danny McBride would definitely be a great addition. Throw in Simon Pegg and some others and we have a great revival of a great franchise. Dammit now I really want to watch the movies right now. I can't wait for the video game. It ranks with Bioshock 2 and Batman: Arkham Asylum as far as anticipation.

@Rorschach01: OHHHH! Paul Rudd!!! Good one!!! You know, after seeing 'Role Models' Sean William Scott would be pretty good as Venkmans apprentice, though Vince Vaughn would do it better I think.

JACK BLACK-BEN STILLER-CHRIS ROCK-GET SOME POWER HITTERS... Yeah, they could do that, or they could get people that are funny!..ah no Chris Rock is good..but only at stand up. Stiller just annoys me these days. I dont know, im fickle when it comes to comedic actors. If they play the same part one too many times i hate them.

I hate this idea of a female member. They will probably bring in a sexual aspect into ghostbusters.. which yes was there originally but not as far as they will probably take it now. I want to see the lonely bachelors that the original ghostbusters were. I don't want to see sexual tension between two characters. I want to see the ghostbusters. Keep women out of this movie unless they are going to be like the next Danna Barret. Or else it will just be made into a love story like the following movies that did not need the female aspect:
1) Iron Man- a good movie but did not need a love story yet.
2) Spiderman- the entire story revolved around Mary and Pete the entire movie.
3) Transformers- I'm sick and tired of seeing Megan Fox and Shia La Barf dance around it ruined the first one.. I just wanted to see the robots.
4) Daredevil- Without Elektra this movie would have been way better.. Although it is still one of my favorites.
5) Blade 1: he did not need to save that woman we could have dealt without that.
6) Blade 2: we could have done without the love story between him and the vampire.
7) Indiana Jones Kingdom of the crystal skull: I don't want to see Indy in love.

Over and over again i learn that having potential romance in a movie takes over the entire movie. It makes it less about what it should be and more about the love. Don't get me wrong i like all the movies above. But they could have done without revolving around a love story and I worry that ghostbusters will not learn from the mistakes of others.

Steve Carrell and Paul Rudd.

Hell throw in Romany Malco, also from 40-year-old virgin. I think they were great together.

Vince Vaughn, Danny McBride, (Kenny Powers from East Bound and Down) Michael Cera, Ryan Reynolds and Sean William Scott.

Something along those lines could be funny. Maybe even Jason Segal, Artie Lange or Paul Rudd.

Vince Vaughn was born to be in Ghostbusters along with Owen Wilson I would also love to see John C Reily in it. This movie has some great potential if they get the right players.

Sean William Scott is Satan. A squinty eyed, squeaky voiced beelzebub! Jason Segal is cool, Michael Cera..maybe, if he changed his rabbit in the headlights routine. Ryan Reynolds could work.

How about HHH and Tom Welling!

Some of these may be outdated... But still, interesting list of possible future projects/revivals/sequels/remakes.

Poor ol' Dushku. I'd take her over Alyssa. I base that on liking Dollhouse and not liking Charmed. A friend has joked that Akyroyd plans on calling it Ghost "Bust"ers and casting Scarlett Johansen alongside Alyssa. This seems plausible.

Simpler to list who I do *not want to see in this movie:
Sarah Silverman
Vince Vaughn
Ben Stiller
Jack Black
Chris Rock
Sean William Scott
Megan Fox
Shia LaBoeuf
Will Ferrell
(Hell if either of the last 2 morons are in it, I'll boycott the movie on principle alone)

adamant877 - 5/20/2009, 4:26 PM
I like the idea of a spunky, comediane in the role as opposed to some hot little tart with NO comedic talent, and very little to offer besides visual appeal. Sarah's funny as $#it, and she would fit pretty much ANY esnemble cast.

I really like TalkingCorpses' suggestion of Mos Def as well, he has a lot of the same appeal (universal), and has a lot of potential!

Paull Rudd is brilliant in anything, and I could care less about the rest of the cast, except for maybe Jonah Hill... He's great too as additional comic-relief.

Wiredwizard: Any contributing ideas?

Didn't they already do a "new gen" ghost busters team a few years ago? I don't remember it catching on too well.
adamant877
adamant877 - 5/20/2009, 5:02 PM
It was back in the eighties, and consisted of a few teens and a talking gorilla...
Yeah, you heard me: TALKING GORILLA!
(It didn't catch on.)
