I have noticed recently, that there appears to be an influx of fanboyism. I think it has increased, dramatically over the past couple of months because of the three big CBM'S being released this year. The Avengers is only weeks away from release and will soon be followed by, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises. In this article, I am going to go over why it is okay to like all three.
The majority of us are here for the same reasons. We all love comic book heroes. Everyone has their own personal preference when it comes to these characters, mine is Spider-Man. I am personally looking forward to seeing this film the most because of my love for the character, however, this does not stop me from being excited about the other upcoming CBM's. What has become apparent to myself and I am fully aware this is not a new thing, is that some fans appear to be threatened by other films, when it does not feature their personal favourite. Now I am not saying there is anything wrong with this but I feel sometimes it can cloud your opinions. Obviously you want to see the film with your favourite character succeed. What fan wouldn't ? It's just that sometimes, I feel some fans are so diehard, they worry that another character may over-shadow their favourite, so they lash out to make themselves feel better,
I think we can all safely say we have been guilty of this at some point. I have recently been very frustrated with some of the comments, being made about The Amazing Spider-Man. I hold no grudges when someone voices their opinion because that is all it is, THEIR opinion. There is nothing I can do or say to change that. What I think many people are afraid of when they see something negative, being directed towards their favourite hero, is that it will also change their perceptions. This is normally when things become nasty and insults start flying out of the window. Don't take it personally because they have a right to their opinion and I am sure a majority of them, did not mean to offend anyone by it. What you also have to understand, is that, majority of the time when someone voices a negative opinion, it is normally out of concern, not to start a flame war.
As I said earlier in the article, I want to see The Amazing Spider-Man the most this summer but I am also keen to see Batman and The Avengers because I have a general passion, when it comes to comic book characters. There is something relatable in each one of them. We choose our favourites based on what they give to us as an individual. So in essence, we become part of the character and when they are being attacked, we retaliate because it is almost like someone attacking us as an individual. We protect them as we would ourselves.
The fact is, I can't wait to see these films. I think we have all been spoilt for choice this year and we should all jump on the ride. Why just stop at chocolate ice cream, when you can have a mixture of flavours, with their own unique twists and tastes. Now I can appreciate, not everyone, has an interest in seeing each movie this summer and that is fine. It's whatever pulls you in the most at the end of the day. Though, if all three films turn out to be great, then we have all won in my opinion. Of course, it is all subjective, just because one person thinks it is great doesn't mean everyone else will and that is okay. You have every right to state your opinion because that is what the comment sections are for. If someone doesn't feel the same way you do, don't take it personally because it is only their opinion.
I truly hope, each film lives up to the expectations being placed upon them. Remember that people are anxious for different films this year, something I think we can all relate to. If one or two of the films turn out to be a flop, don't turn around and say I told you so because just think how you would feel if it happened to your most anticipated film.
Finally, I would just like to add, I have not been on this site very long but I have met some truly welcoming individuals, so far. I appreciate it and thank you ! I look forward to more discussions in the future !
